    Yesterday a friend and I were glancing over the 1989 Mass.
    Fish and Game abstracts. There is nothing at all on salt
    water regulations. Is there anywhere I can get a copy of
    off shore regulations? Almost all the regulations that I'm
    aware of, are second hand. I'd just as soon be prepared if
    some "official type" were to check us out next summer.
    BTW, what is the official/unofficial striper length in 89.

    Thanks
    Brian

    Brian- you may have to check several sources for Saltwater Regs.
    	In NJ, for example, our Fish & Game people only handle freshwater,
    	saltwater fish are regulated by the Marine Fisheries bureau.
    This latter group has jurisdiction from the tide line out to the
    3 mile mark. From 3 miles to 200, it's a "federal case". These regs
    come from the various regional fisheries councils, which are under
    the Dept. of Commerce (can you guess which way these guys lean?)
    Up in Mass., find out who regulates the commercial fishermen...
    they should have all the rules in one book.

    The proposal for stripers is:

    		34 inches  Jan.1
    			36 inches Jul 1
    				39 inches Oct/Nov

    	With my luck, by the time I catch a 50 pounder, it will be too
    small to keep.

| Does anyone know off hand what the MASS 89 salt limits (length and
    QTY) are?

    I am interested in Fluke, flounder and Stripers.

    Thanks

| I can only answer for the stripers.
    It's 36" minimun length and the limit is one per day.
    Still looking for my 1st keeper :*)

| Brian, Thanks for the info on Stripers.

    I managed to find the length limits for fluke and flounder elsewhere.
    I have to admit that I was surprised that no one in this conference
    knew the regulations for fluke and flounder in Mass.

    Fluke = 14"

    Flounder = 12"
