872.0. "NEW EQUIP for 1989" by VAX4::TOMAS (Joe) Thu Sep 08 1988 15:44

It seems that there have already been several trade shows for tackle
retailers, so I suspect we'll soon start hearing about new models of rods,
reels, lures, motors, electronics and other doo-dads.

One interesting new item I saw last night in the fall issue of the Bass Pro
catalog from Normark was an LCD hand-held scale, much like the infamous
DeLiar. It weighs fish up to 10 lbs within 1 ounce and supposedly, with 1%
accuracy. And it only costs $29.95!! It seems like an excellent addition to
the tackle box for culling.

Anyone seen anything else of interest??

    There was an blurb in BASSMASTERS (the rag) that the Bassmasters line
    of boat (as in JayBee, not Ranger Bassmasters Classic) will be offering
    an air cushioned suspension system for driver and passenger seats.

    Sounds like a good idea, and from what they say, works well...

    There was a slightly longer description in the Cabelas catalog,
    as compared to the BPS catalog, and it states that it can be
    'zeroed out' as well (so you can zero out a weigh sack, etc).

    Sounds like a winner to me. Have to call 1-800-bass-pro tonight...
