Hey SKoal.......... A pitchin rod is for plastic worms/pig & jig etc. Very sensetive and with a strong back bone for settin the hook. A crankin rod is generally for crank baits less sensetive and less backbone. My crankin rod is 7 foot with graphite shoulder and the last 20 inches being glass so as not jerk the hooks right out of the fishes jaws. With this rod and my PR35 high speed Diawa I can toss a Rattle trap about 700 yards. (well almost) Both of these rods are generally the two handed types. Hope this helps TBDW

YO Bandit, Both are "specialty" rods and quite similar. They are both two handed casting rods and REALLY comforatble to use. You will find most all are med-hvy/ hvy/ or extra-hvy. They both have the index finger grip on the bottom of the rod. Actually quite comfortable to use with a baitcater. Due to the long handle you can "rest" it on your fore-arm when reeling. It also does cast like crazy as TBDW says. It's like swinging a baseball bat..two hands. I own a med-hvy 7ft pitchin' stick. I put a 1022 plus ABU on it. I can pull a cow out of a pasture with this set up. I suggest buying the pitchin' stick simply because TBDW owns a crankin' stick..................!! NIGHTCRAWLER~~~~~~~~~~~
