It sounds like you had a great time!!!! I too had the best fishing
trip of my life this past weekend. Although I didn't catch as many
blues as you did on your trip, I caught and boated my first bluefish.
It was only a fifteen pounder...but what a fighter. I even broke
the tip off of a brand new Penn Slammer Rod fighting the fish. I
had the drag set right, but the rod was defective.
I had gone bluefishing many of times before. I have gotten strikes,
cleaned hooks, broken lines and shut-outs on previous trips. But
I finally broke the jinx and boated 10 of the toothy blues....
The area I was trolling was out of Salem-Beverly Harbor. About
a mile beyond Baker's Island.

The charter was "HAY DAD". It was $70 for 8hrs. $60 for
4hrs. If you figure travel time on the water the 8hr is much better
for only 10 bucks more. 15 charters go out of the harbor and many
were trolling near us. If interested I have the ph# at home and
will post it here. The capt. has been going out of the harbor for
15 years. The mate said he was the old man of the harbor. I believe
it after this trip. My arms still hurt!

857.6 | HELP! Are they running in R.I.?? | GIAMEM::LEAHY | | Wed Jul 05 1989 16:28 | 9 |
| Hi, Can anyone tell me if the blues or stripers are running near
the Misquamicut (sp?) beach in Rhode Island? My son would like
to do some surf fishing this week and I would prefer a nice flat
sandy area as opposed to the CC canal. I also asked the same question
in the R.I. conference.
Thanks in advance for any answers.
Jack
