855.0. "N.Y. SALMON INFO." by MEDUSA::DAY () Fri Aug 19 1988 08:39

This is the info on the Salmon run, I would also suggest
That you call soon or you will not get a room or a camp spot.

1). Black River Campground, Foster Park Rd. Dexter N.Y.
    	(315)-639-3735.

2.) Where to get a 3 day licence, Coles Mobil station.
        Down town Dexter.

3). Again I would suggest that you call now ( the chamber of comm.)
    	to find a room.

The man at the Mobil station is the only agent for out of state
    licence.

Before you go...check to make sure the hydro electric dam
is running and how long each night. The Salmon runs are best only
when the dam has been running the night before...

I just got back from fishing in Pulaski last night. I went up Friday
after work. For those of you who like to Salmon fish, i have good news
for you...The fish are in the river !!! They really started to come in
yesterday morning. They have been running one gate of water a day, for
the past 9 days, and they are planning on doing this for the next few
weeks. So...it looks like the next month is going to be great fishing
	up in Pulaski !!

How did I do ?? Well...I go skunked on Saturday, but I limited out by
	11:00 a.m. yesterday !!

If you are planing on going up and want to know any more info, let
	me know.

	Good luck !!

Where were you fishing (above or below town), what were you using, and
were they hitting, or were you lifting 'em in the lip ?

Could anyone give me the best directions to get to Pulaski N.Y. from
Salem N.H. Also could you give me the estimated drive time and areas
to avoid at certain times. We will be leaving on a Thursday around 4
    a.m.

    Thanks

    Don,
855.7Have fun!STAFF::WOODWed Sep 12 1990 15:3312
I just got back from a weekend there. From Princeton Mass it took
6 hours towing a boat. We probably avaeraged between 50 and 60
mph. We took 90 west to 81 north over. On the way back we never
got on 81, but took rt 13 from pulaski to 90. It was 7 hours over,
and 6 back, but we stopped more going over too...I'd do 13 again.
You pick it up around Rome. From Salem I'd go 93 to 495 to the
mass pike. If your not towing and cruised at 70 I bet you could
do it in less then 6...For the record, the boat scored one 28lb
    king, a 11lb. coho, a 9 lb. coho, a 6 lb. brown and a 4lb. laker.
Not as good as other years, but still lot's of fun!
