I'm looking for a home on a lake in Southern N.H. and I want to
be sure it's good for fishing, swimming and boating in general.
One of the lakes/ponds I'm looking at is Country Pond over by
Kingston N.H. Does anyone out there know if it's a clean pond,
Spring fed or whatever? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Robin

I've fished and duck hunted Country Pond and it is fairly clean.
There was however a problem a while back where Kingston Steel Drum
(which has long since shutdown) was dumping/burying (?) toxic chemicals
at the back of their property which the Pow Wow River happened to
run through. The Pow Wow River connects Great Pond, Kingston Lake,
Greenwood Lake, and Country Pond.
I believe Kingston applied for and got superfund money to clean
this up. I do remember seeing people in full toxic protective suits
and apparatus working back there for quite a while.

I used to fish it all the time, and it was real good for bass and
pickerel. Weedy, with limited good shorefront and some rundown places
as well as decent places. Seemed clean, and got a bit warm in the
summer. A pretty, narrow river runs out of it.
