    The Eagle 3-D uses 3 transducers. I'm not sure if it really works
    any better or not. I would try to find a dealer that could show
    you one that is operational so you could see for yourself. The LCR
    has different modes; you can see the return from any of the transducers
    individually, each of the transducers in a separate window, or the
    composite return from all three transducers. It may be worth looking
    into.

      Indeed the Eagle 3-D is a fine choice for a fish finder. But let
    me be candid here for a moment, its not the Eagle 3-D model that
    you want. I have done alot of research on this subject, ( your 
    mental ability when it comes to marine driving ), what you need

Now there's a voice we haven't heard from for some time!  I sure hope that 
this doesn't mean that the infamous LEGEND will come out of retirement.  
Rumor has it that the Legend has become a total recluse, having gone off to 
the remote shores of Alaska to hand-feed baby whales and to learn their 
language.  I also hear that trying to converse with him results in a series 
of high-pitched grunts, groans and squeels.

    Hey Don Pardo, maybe that same manufacturer makes a trolling motor
    that automatically finds it's way home after being tossed overboard....

    On the serious side, I haven't seen the new 3D...  but for a list
    of other notes that cover various LCRs etc.; DIR/KEY=SONAR
