| | Al, I'm planning on heading up to the Maine for a canoe camping
and fishing trip Aug 12-14. I'm considering the Saco, but I'm
concerned about the low water levels. Happen to know of any
rivers that happen to cater to canoe camping and fishing for
smallies, or other rivers for trout. Don Mac

| | YO DON,
Woodall's tenting directory has hundreds, from saltwater islands
to boocoo lake sites. The eastern region edition covers florida
through new england to canada. Sites and areas are discribed well
and phone #'s are listed. Most take over the phone reservations.
For $3.95 you can't go wrong!

| | Any info on fishing Highland Lake above Sebago. I have a 14 ft
Canoe with 3 HP electric trolling motor on it. Can it be used
or would I be better off renting a boat there. We will be there
    mid august

| | YO WORM,
Thanks for the tip, but for this particular trip I'm looking to avoid
the established campgrounds. This will be a semi-wilderness adventure
'away from it all' for a few days. Looking forward to leaving the
boat and 95% of the tackle at home and just paddling/drifting the
canoe, camping and fishing for a few days.

However, that book you mentioned is a good one. After returning
from my camping/fishing trip down to Florida earlier this year, I came
upon that book (or a similar one) - I sure could have used that book
    on that trip.

    Don Mac

| | YO Don,
You should do a trip in Quetico Provential Park in Canada some
time. It is just over International Falls Mn. I went out in the
bush for two weeks in a canoe. Did not see another human the whole
trip. A highlight I will NEVER forget. You get a map of the waterways
and portage' points so you don't (you hope) get lost. I covered
    a good 200 miles.......

| | This is really great.....TBDW enters a note on OUR plans to do some
fishing in Maine and the next thing I know I'm going to Minnesota
Canada to do the Quetico area....which is probably one of the greatest
    fishing areas you can find.....:^)

Now, back to the subject....To answer Al's questions....Tent, MY
RANGER (joe) and somewhere there are fish on a lake with a servicable
ramp. My four wheeler should be up to the task. Okay Al, spill your
knowledge.....we are looking for three days to a week to do our
    thing. Any suggestions???

    Tight lines all, Ranger Ron
