767.0. "Fishing the Rez" by CASV02::PRESTON (Curious George & th'Temple of Doom) Tue Jun 14 1988 18:03
Can anybody comment on the status of some of the less well known
reservoirs in Mass? I'm thinking specifically of the ones visible from
128S going through Lexington/Lincoln and Waltham, and the one in Wenham
along Rt 1A. I have never actually seen signs forbidding fishing, but
people (who never go fishing) like to tell me that they are off limits. I
realize that some waters are off limits to boats, etc, but I personally
know of no specific examples of reservoirs where fishing is expressly
forbidden. The little booklet you get with your fishing license says
nothing, either.
Some of those look awfully tempting...!

| Call the local police, they'll know if you can fish that reservoir,
cause they'll be the ones that will arrest you if you can't.

| The rez you mention on 128 south in Waltham is a reserve supply
for Cambridge. More than a few years ago ice fishing produced several
largemouths #3 - 5# plus lotsa yellow perch. Occasionally, we were
spotted and asked to leave by the local police. They wouldn't leave
their cruisers parked on 128 and venture on the ice. We left when
this occured but were never ticketed.
