    	Is ther any freshwater salmon fishermen out there??
    I was wondering, as it is my first time out to go salmon,
    does anybody have any tips/bait for this type of fishing?
    		Thankyou in advance,

652.1Right after ice out is bestRANGLY::OKERHOLM_PAUTue Mar 29 1988 13:5410
    	I like to fish for Salmon right after ice out, when they are
    near the surface. I prefer to troll with flies. I have found any
    of the ghost patters will work. If your into lures then mooslooks,
    super dupers or anything else with flash seems to work.
    	Later in the season you have to go down deep. HUGE spinners
    are used (I forget what they call them.) with smaller lures trailing
    behind them.
    	This is kind of sketchy but I gotta get back to work. I'm sure
    others will join in.

    You could also use shiners. I go up to maine once a year and fish
    East Grand Lake for Salmon and I have had some luck using shiners.

652.4"HAD FUN CAUGHT TWO"TPVAX3::BLANCHETTEMon Apr 04 1988 10:4610
    I went this past Friday and caught one and my partner got one
    It was an experience, I ended up reading a couple of books
    which said to use smelt with a tiny bobber, and you know what
    It worked!! the only thing is, is it took alot of patients and
    time. you actually had to let the smelt do the work and it was
    easy coasting from there. The first one caught was caught by my
    partner it was 22" 2lbs 3/4oz and the one I caught was 16" 1lber.
    Both caught out of Winnipesaukee from a dock.

652.7FISHING SALMON W/SPOOLSWAV12::LONGWAYSun Apr 17 1988 19:328
    THOSE HUGE SPINNERS USED FOR SALMON FISHING I BELIEVE ARE CALLED
    "SPOOLS". ANYWAY, THE KIND I USE ARE MADE BY "SEBAGO". THEY MAKE
    BOTH BRASS AND SILVER. I'VE HAD BETTER LUCK WITH THE BRASS TRIPLE
    SPOOL (ONE LARGE AND TWO SMALLER SPOOLS) AND USING EITHER WORMS
    OR A GREAY GHOST.

    HOPE THIS HELPS.
