605.0. "Info on Greenbelt Dam near Amarillo TX" by CURIE::WISURI () Mon Feb 22 1988 15:44

                      Amarillo, Texas

    My husband and I are going to Greenbelt Dam I believe that is in
    Clarendon, Texax the end of March for a tournament. It is near
    Amarillo and I was wondering if anyone could give me any information
    about anything about the place. I don't know anyone who is familiar
    with the area. The tournament is March 29th, is it WARM there then?

    Thanks,

    Cindy

605.1How big is texas, ANYWAY??JAWS::WIERSUMThe Back Deck WizardMon Feb 22 1988 17:2016

    Cindy, it should be warm there then.

    The TEXICAN should be able to help. He doesn't get a chance to
    participate in this file often. You can reach him @ dtn 296-4196.

    Also, could you tell us more about this tourney? If I'm not mistaken
    some of us MAY be in the area at that time and may want to check
    it out. Hell I don't know maybe.

605.2MATCH FISHINGCURIE::WISURITue Feb 23 1988 10:3214
    Amarillo is in the Pan Handle (up near the top). Thanks for the
    phone number it will probably come in handy.

    The tournament is the Match Fishing sponsored by the Club Fisherman
    of Amarillo. You can watch it on T.V. We watched it last year
    never did we think he would represent Massachusetts on it this year.
     He will fish against a guy from Maine and if you win your first
    match (4 hours with judges watching at all times) you win a fully
    rigged 330 Ranger with a Yamaha 125 (?) then each additional match
    you win the boat gets larger and finally, the big winner gets a
    Ranger 395 with a 200 hp Yamaha.

    Should be interesting!!!

605.3EAT RIGHT BEFORE THE BATTLE!SCOMAN::WOOLDRIDGEMon Feb 29 1988 17:0010
    Cindy,
             Eat lots of HOT mexican food loaded with Jalapenos the
    night before the tourney. Have juevoes rancheros for breakfast the
    morning of the tourney. Then you will be very macha (the other form
    of macho) Oh... and stay away from TBDW if you see him on the water.
    I know he will have done lots of those gastointestinal delights
    ......I suggest a good mile of spacing between boats!

    Good luck!
