A summary of Coast Guard Auxiliary activities completed during 1987 were
released by W.J. Wallace, U.S. Coast Guard, Chief Director of Auxiliary.
The following figures are averages for the entire national Auxiliary effort.
On an average 1987 day, the Auxiliary Membership
Taught boating safety to 516 youths.
Taught multi-lesson courses to 298 adults.
Examined 768 pleasure boats (voluntary, equipment and safety checks)
Presented 26 civic lectures.
Published 181 news stories.
Performed 69 Coast Guard Operational Support missions.
Conducted 72 Safety Patrols.
Assisted 68 boaters.
Assisted or saved $370,000 worth of property.
Saved more than one boater's life.
