| Mike,
A suggestion or two ... if you want to cut the price some;
1. Bring your own tackle. Bassin' tackle is bassin' tackle.
2. You don't need a guide every day. More than two guided days
in a weeks fishing on the same Lake seems unnecessary. He/She should
be able to point you to some productive areas for the remainder
of the week.
3. You might look for camping accomodations.
Good luck,
Steve

| Mike,
If you and your son would like to try some Louisiana fishing(similar
to Florida) on a natural lake filled with cypress trees, you are
welcome to come to my place. Just give me adequate notice. The only
cost is your airfare and food. There are a couple of restaurants
fairly close by and cooking facilities at the camp. Since it is
a private camp, I don't know about the availability of guides at
the public camps.
The fishing at that time of year varies from excellent to lousey
depending upon the spawing season which in turn depends upon the
weather.
Let me know if you are interested. My DTN is 451-2963 and my mail
is DPDMAI::BEAZLEY or Bob Beazley@DLO.

| Mike,
Just a follow-up to Bob's offer...
As Bob said, he own's a camp on Lake Bisteneau that is often the site of
BassMaster's tourneys. Bob extended an invitation to me a couple of years
ago when I was down in Dallas for DECUS and we headed out to his camp for
the weekend after the show was over. The place is really super! It's the
first time I ever fished "southern" waters and I was really impressed.
The lake is about 7-9 miles long and is LOADED with cypress tress, duckweed
and all sorts of bassy structure! You can position your boat in a grove of
cypress trees and have no less than 30-50 trees to cast to without moving!
And any one of them can hold a sizeable bass!
One thing, however, that you should consider. Unlike Florida, most
Louisiana lakes don't have the strain of bass that grow to 10-20 lbs. A
8-10 pounder is considered a hawg down there. So, it becomes a decision of
saving $$$ and settling for smaller fish....OR...spending BIG BUCKS and head
to Florida where you still may only end up with an 8-10 pounder! (not that
that's anything to sneeze at!)
You might want to at least give Bob a call to chat...he's a true southern
gentleman!

| Mike,
My partner took his wife down there last year and had a great time,
he was going about the same route as you except he only took three
days. He brought back pictures so he couldn't lie. They threw
back several 9 to 10 lb'ers. His wife hooked into a 13.10 that
is on his wall now. All of the fishing was done tight line with
river shiners. As with all fishing trips the weather dictates whether
you a good time or a great time....

| Mike,
Read note 91 for more info on Okeechobee.
Some of these camps are not all that great...old equipment, boats
etc. There are some new ones down there, like Roland Martins', that
you might want to check out. Call some of the numbers, or write
to the places mentioned in note 91.
Have a great time, Ranger Ron
