Has anyone been into the Blues in the last week or so? Would appreciate hearing from anyone who may had had some luck. Location, time of day (or night), bait, weight, etc. Looking forward to doing battle with the warriors from the deep. thanks The Gaffer

Three of us went out of Point Judith R.I. a few nights ago on a party boat. It was a little slow only about 40-50 blues on the whole boat. We used silver spoons with red tubing on the hooks. I wished we used bait instead.

You don't say where you're located or where you'll be fishing, BUT... Down here in Jersey we've had anything from a "decent pick" to an all-out blitz. Action on the beach is definitely picking up, and late afternoon/early evening seems best right now. Just about all day long we've been watching schools of blues and bonito breaking about 1/4 mile + off shore. These schools seem to in and out as well as up and down the coast. It looks like even the party boats are just going out and "chasing birds". Typically, from this time (of year) on, action with blues should really be building to a peak as they get ready to migrate. Good luck and let us know how you do. Bagel

We were fishing plum island sound yesterday: The blues are everywhere! Try the parker river or Ipswich river. Also a few bass where reported in the area. The Merrimack is also good. |
