380.0. "Fishing off shore in NH" by DSSDEV::CHAN () Sat Jun 20 1987 15:01

    Looking for lakes and ponds in S. NH where one could fish off the
    shore. I've just gotten interested and figured the best thing to
    do is get a license and the NH fishing rules. Purchased some gear
    at the sales person's suggestion at the sporting outfit. Now I
    need a place to fish without a boat. Seem to be an aweful lot of
    private property out there.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

380.1...heres two places..NISYSI::MEDVECKYMon Jun 22 1987 08:3623
    I havent done much fishin the last few years because of various
    things and we just bought a new house in Nov.....been working our
    rears off and just said, thats it, next week were NOT working...
    planning on getting the licenses and spend the weekend fishing
    with our 12 year old.....going to pack a lunch and head for
    Massabesic Lake.....its on rte 28 about 8-10 miles north of Derry..
    Lots of shoreline and a pleasant place to fish.....havent been
    there in years but used to catch bass and trout from the shore...and
    like I said...its pleasant and peaceful.....

    You can also do some shore fishing in Canobie Lake by the pumping
    station....there are ALWAYS people fishing there.....Ive never
    fished it but there are lots of trout and, they tell me, some big
    bass

    There must be tons of other places where more avid fisherman will
    tune you in to but these are just two that are close to me and where
    I know there are fish...

    Boy, am I looking forward to the weekend.....good luck

380.3Yup, already started!DSSDEV::CHANMon Jun 22 1987 15:2617
    Already have. I've read most of the notes that show up on
    DIR/TIT=NH  DIR/TIT=N.H. and DIR/TIT=NEW H.  Unfortunately, all
    the places mentioned in these notes were places where people fish
    in boats. I've even read the notes on lures, that's how I pick
    the lures to purchase. You know, purple Mann worms, Mepps spinners,
    Rapala plugs, etc. There's nothing on the type of rod and reel
    to use. That I had to reply on the guy at the tackle store. He
    basically said, if you want to wheel them in get some medium gear,
    it you want to have more fun, play with your catch with light gear.
    I purchased light gear for me and medium for my SO.

    My SO got a great hit. Pulled out a few yards of line and then
    it was gone. Well, I was watching her and the line didn't get loose
    so I thought she was doing it correctly. My guess is that the hook
    wasn't sunk. What method do you use to sink your bait?
