My 10 year old son just caught his first fairly good fish (a little 19" 4#+ large mouth). I want to get this one mounted for him. When I was growing up, I stepped up the ladder the same as he is doing. I don't even have pictures of the steps I took to learn how to fish. Starting with little 8" brook trout at about 2 years old. I got an early start. The only fish I have to show is the Colorado State Record German Brown trout for 4# test line. I know how much that fish cost me to get mounted, but, the mount is good enough that you don't have to guess what type fish it is or even if it is a fish. Now for the question. Has anyone used the Bass Pro mounting service? If so, how good is the mounting? Or, do you have a taxidermist that you would recommend that won't cost me an arm and leg to get the fish mounted? This service would be preferable in the Colorado Springs, Denver, Pueblo area to hold down on shipping charges. But, if the service is reasonable and good, I would ship it for him. ADVthanksANCE! Wayne

Wayne, check out note 151.* on taxidermy. I used BassPro last year and was VERY pleased with the results. And since then, I've seen alot of other mounts, and I have to say that mine really looks a whole heck of alot better that most that I've seen. BassPro does a REAL nice job - and much quicker than any other place that I talked to - and for less $$ than any other place that I talked to... Look at the mount in the BP catalog, they *really* do come out like that! (of course it takes a good looking fish to start with too 8^) |
