I must say that yes we did get Ron's Ranger in the mill pond (not
the new one, the old one) not an easy job. Broken lights, scrapes
and almost lost the t bird. Pre Ranger we used a canoe and had a
much better success rate. you really need to be able to get way in amongst
the stumps to be effective. I highly recomend leavin those big boats
at home.

285.4 | NH/MA events @ Monomonac | AIMHI::TOMAS | Joe | Tue Mar 31 1987 09:55 | 13 |
| Regarding tournaments....Ron and I were talking yesterday about
the separate NH and MASS events of last year, and we both agreed
that INSTEAD of having separate tourneys, why not schedule several
of them all at Monomonac. That way the turnout is bound to be better
where everyone could compete PLUS the "pot" would be larger.
We already have one planned for May 17...maybe we could plan to
have one in late June or early July and then the final one in
September.
What's the concensus??

285.5 | Let's get fishing....! | AIMHI::FLETCHER | Who's running this place, anyway? | Tue Mar 31 1987 13:42 | 11 |
| Although I've never witnessed any BIG fish coming out of Monomonac
I feel it is big enough to be a fishing challenge many trips out,
so I'd say GO FOR IT! It has lots of fingers and islands and docks
and stuff to have fun at.
It also has lots of boats and crowds, but if we timed it right I
think we could minimize the impact of noise and boats. Say early
or late when everyone is asleep or eating or some mix like that...
Of course, Joe , we could leave you to pick the dates and then we'd
be SURE it would rain and then we'd have the lake to ourselves...

285.6 | Sounds like It should Work... | TORA::SCHOLZ | Ron....and thanks for all the fish | Wed Apr 01 1987 11:02 | 16 |
| I think that its' a good idea and we should be able to have some
fun in the process. Never having fished the lake, like most of the
Mass. people, I think, it should be fun learning the lake and that
will take a few times out. So, ya, lets do it. How about the rest
of you??
One of the other things that I thought about was just getting some
fishing trips together to either of the states, or maybe even Maine
or Vermont. Just a fishing trip with a few boats and some overnight
camping or the like. I for one, would like to get a couple of boats
together and go fish Wini or Squam. Meet a couple of the guys from
N.H. there and have a good time....no tournament, just fishing and
bragging type stuff....anyone interested in something like this??
Tight lines, Ranger Ron

That's a great idea. It would be nice to be able to just sit
around, have a few beers, catch a few fish and laugh as you and
Holeshot try and out brag each other! Where your boots boys!
Now that Ol' Stump Jumpa has her own trailer and will actually plane
now with the new motor, I'm ready for anything!

*THINK* he can get away with that, but if he had ever seen Joe's boat
he'd never even DREAM of referring to it in the same sentence as
his Ranger!!!!!
Sorry, Joe but that little ol' V daddy bought you ain't too far off

there was a BUNCH of guys there giving their 150's a good workout.
5-6 Rangers at a time full out down the river. Jumping over each other's

Hey, Ron...us older farts gotta stick together and keep them youngsters
like Don in place.
I dunno, Bob...I think you're really asking for a heap o' trouble
by letting Don be your partner. Don asked me to keep this quite,
but I can't any longer. At our NH tourney last year, when Don and
his partner checked in, Don's partner ( a cousin ) said he'd never
fish with him because:
1. Don always cast across his line.
2. Don always borrowed his plugs.
3. Don always lost the borrowed plugs.
4. Don always rocked the boat.
5. Don always peed into the boat.
Well, Bob....I wish you luck!

Re: .13
I have the same problem with Ron!
1) He looses his sense of humor when I cast across his line.
2) He makes an ugly face when I borrow His plugs.
3) When I loose his plug he expects ME to replace the old worn out
thing that didn't work anyway.
4) Ron does pee in the boat
Oh well it is his boat, I guesse he can spill beer and pee in it
if he wants.

| Now Now Now Joe bee bee bee nice
Now don you would never think of casting across your partners line
would you. This is a team event I fish the front and you fish the
back.. Got it!
as for borrowing lures. Hay worm jigs, and grubs are cheep but
if you should happen to loose one of those old worn out wood ones
that Garry claims they don't work!! You better have a bathing suit
on..
I do have a long neck funnel but what the hell I already chrissened
(sp) ok Pissed on the boat. But it's my boat to piss on not
his!!!
As for rocking the boat good luck!!
Still want to fish with me don?

p.s. The only thing I hate is tabaco spit and chew or fish spray
that stuff eats carpets.

| No sweat Bob, I'm not a Redman fan... And I have my own good ol'
wooden plugs, last year I picked up one of those last chance antique
lure kits from BP... And as far as casting cross lines... Hey Cris,
tell everyone how Holeshot does it, he doesn't cross lines, *SNAP*
there goes another rod!
I'm not so bad, I didn't spill *too* much beer in Ron's Ranger!

| Hey what the heck, whats a little beer among friends???.........
No fishing boat is complete until it has at least a case of beer
spilled on it (one way or the other;^)
Just wait Garry, gohead, ask for that lure......see what happens:^!)
I give Garry credit though, he only lost HIS lures on this last
trip.......$14 worth at that (those rattle traps get hung up easy)
and he never asked me for mine (of course I only had the one I was
using).
Well, the lake (Singletary) is open.....how is the rest of the world
doing?? Of course with my luck, it will be iced over again this
week....boy, its cold out there.

| Now boys! I can't testify against the guy with the BOAT!
Where else would I be able to sit in the bow and have someone drive
me around to my favorite fishing spots? No, Joe only broke his
Shimano rod over my Shimano when he was tellin' me this story, see,
then hauls back and lets fly with his brand new baitcaster. CRACK!
The rod splintered over mine (just sitting there minding its own
business...) so he told Shimano he had this 5+ lb'er, see and well
he hauled back and the rod broke! Amazing. Shimano gave him a new
rod. Brother. Now, ask Joe about trying to relieve himself while
fishin'. I never could believe someone could do it BACK INTO the
can he had just emptied but if I had'nt seen it with my own eyes...
What I was wondering was how he got it into that little hole in
the end of the can... but then size is size and I would never mention
anything to Joe about that...
8-)
Cris. (hey joe how about a portapottie in your new design?)

Hey Don,
I wouldn't worry about a rockin' the boat. I went out with
Bob one time last year and damn near put him in the drink just settin'
the hook. 'pears to me he hasn't developed his sea legs yet and
therefore will be very content to keep his new toy on an even keel.
What's the funnel for? Beer after filtering it thru the kidneys, right?
Bob told me that's why he got two live-wells, 1 for the catch and the
other for beer. He made no stipulation about 'before' and 'after'.

On the west point trip Gary Watt set the hook so hard that he fell
off the back deck high chair, rolled between the two consoles and
ended up with his head leanning against the forword livewell.
His response to all this was "OH SHIT, I LOST ANOTHER RATTETRAP
ON A TREE".
Through all this, he didn't rock the boat. He did manage to loose
the biggest fish of the trip.
Better luck nest time
