    I'm Frank Gatulis in Marlboro.  I'm interrested in joining.  I'm
    not a tourney fisherman.  I fish a lot - for fun - for anything
    I can catch.  I do own a boat, or two.

    	This might be just what we need to keep the interest in this
    file going through the winter. I'm not a lifetime member of B.A.S.S
    but i am a member. I'd be interested in hearing more about it.

	What exactly is involved. Are there dues ? If yes, does a certain
    percentage go back to B.A.S.S. ? What are the advantages of this
    over a local bass club either associated or not associated with
    DEC ? Is there a certain amount of tourny's that have to be held?
    Etc.,etc.,etc.

    Do you folks plan on becoming a member of the Mass FEDERATION chapter
    of B.A.S.S.  if so I could get you the informations.  I already
    belong to a chapter so I don't think two will go over well.   I
    am an officier in the WORCESTER BASS MASTERS.  If I can
    be any help let me know.

Below are listed those people who have responded to the idea of starting a DEC
BASS chapter. I would like to have a preliminary meeting to discuss issues etc
one weekend at my house. If Bob P. can get me the details about being a MASS 
Federation chapter then we can start thinking about what is needed to start a 
chapter. Also I have several Bass catching technique videos we can watch at 
the same time. If anyone is thinking about joing BASS, please hold up till we 
have a get together as we need a certain number of new members to start it up.

Does anyone have any comments or suggestions??  should I just pull a SAt/sunday
afternoon/evening out of the hat and have meeting then?

Attached are latest respondents to setting up a DEC BASS chapter. I would like 
to have this meeting next Sunday(1/18/87) at my home(I have attached a map) so
we don't conflict with super bowl the following week. Let's try to start around
2:00 p.m. with some general discussion and if anyone wants to stay longer we 
can watch some of the catching HAWG videos I have. If anyone has any info about 
about the Mass state federation, please make ample copies and bring it with 
you. Likewise if anyone has a copy of another BASS chapterss bylaws, please 
bring copies of that so we can make the process a little easier. Also let's 
consider an officiers slate so we can set up a future meeting to vote.

    It appears that most, if not all of the repsonses, for the DEC BASS 
    Chapter have been from Mass.  I haven't repsonded to this because it 
    would be a pain to have to travel that far with ol' Stump Jumpa.  
    (SJ's not the problem, it's the $250 truck that carries her that
    worries me!)

    Any of you NH Bassers care to start a NH based DEC Chapter?

    	Although I don't live in new Hampshire traveling is also going
    to be a real pain for me as well. Is it possible that we could conduct
    most of the business concerning the DEC Chapter through vaxmail
    and notes? This would allow for others such as Don to be members
    of the chapter as well.

    The weather blew us away and we had zero attendance. So I will
    reschedule in the very near future. To digress, I just recently
    became engaged to a Digit who works out in Colorado at the CSC.
    I will be flying out there on the 31st of January to drive her
    back here. Cheryl is not only everything I could ask for, but
    she has a strong background in fishing. She will be new to "HAWG"
    fishing, but knows how to catch and cook trout. Don't want to make
    the rest of you guys jealous, but this lady knows how to bait the
    hook as well as remove the catch from same. Who knows she may outfish
    me. As soon as WE get back, I will reschedule the startup meeting.
    Probably in the mid Feb. timeframe. Not much sense in trying to
    have it next weekend and fight the Superbowl.

	Well Al,  we've all be waiting anxiously to meet the lady.  It is
	now almost April.  Do you think this DEC bass club idea should be
	resurrected?  Is the interest still out there?

    Okay guys (love is hard on fisherman at least this one anyway).
    Cheryl and I have been very busy with moving to a new house, packing,
    unpacking, going to the store to spent my tackle money on new furniture
    etc as well as a week ago we flew to Dallas to bring her 15 year
    old daughter back to Mass. So time has been tight - plus my job
    at DEC has been consuming a lot of time(too much). Let me talk to
    the future Mrs Flood and see if I can pull together a meeting in
    the next 2 weeks or so. Due to some constraints in my new family
    the meeting will have to be dry as in no alcohol, Unless someone
    else has another place we could meet or maybe we could do it one
    night after work in one of the facilities handy to everyone. 
    
    I still have the info from B.A.S.S. and if anyone has the info 
    on joining the MASS Federation, please let me know so we can make
    copies of it for everyone.

    Sorry didn't mean to hold everyone up - but you guys are all old
    hands at being married - this is all new to me( I am still trying
    to figure out how to explain buying new tackle when she thinks I
    have enough and she can read me like a book so "I won it at a raffle"
    just wouldn't work for me.) Maybe Joe or Bob can give me some better
    lines to use that she will buy. 
    
    let me know if you have any suggestions for a mutually convienient

    Seeing how it's now September, and the last entry was in April,
    what happened? Is there a DEC chapter? I would definitly be interested
    in joining if this idea is still alive and well.

It seems that as the fishing season approached there was more fishing to do
for real instead of getting this organization together to talk about it.  I did
some poking around and found that DEC will subsidize/sponsor a club of this
sort, but the paperwork involved (in my opinion) would take a lot of the fun
out of it (unless of course charters and bylaws are your bag).  I suspect that
the activity in this direction might pick up as favorite fishing holes freeze.
Feel free to pick up the ball and run with it if you like.  As far as I know
you won't be stepping on anybody's toes.
