193.0. "Horseshoe Pond, Merrimack, NH. info" by CANDY::MERCURIO () Tue Sep 30 1986 10:31

    Does anyone have any info on Horseshoe Pond in Merrimack? I heard
    there's some big bass (glowing from phosphorus pollution) living
    there.

    I've fished Horseshoe a couple of times, and although I have not
    pulled anything large out of there, I have heard that some big ones
    are in there. Despite its small size, there's a deep (40' or so)
    hole right at the bend of the pond.

    I doubt that I'll ever fish it again, though. With all the condos
    and such going up plus all the Rt 3 traffic noise, I don't find
    it a very enjoyable place to relax and fish!

193.2Airborn bass at lunch!TORCH::MACINTYRELife's great, then u live forever.Fri Oct 03 1986 14:0314
    I just checked out Horseshoe pond for the first time at lunch today.
    I was thinking about taking my nephew there tomorrow, so I wanted to
    find the launch. I used to swim off a big rope swing right off
    of rt 3 years ago, but have never fished it.

    Anyway, I decided to get out and take a few casts since I had my
    tackle with me. I only took about 10 casts and didn't get any hits.
    BUT about 30 yds away, right in the weeds next to the launch, SPLASH!
    A good size bass came about 2 feet out of the water, I'm guessing
    it was at least 3.5lbs, probably more. Shocked the sh*t out of me!
    Needless to say, that's where I'll be tomorrow!

    Thanks for being so honest. I guess it's still worth a shot.

193.7Blue Gill Bass!!!CANDY::MERCURIOFri Feb 13 1987 16:3310
    Thanks for the info. Not interested in Blue Gills unless the strain
    of large mouth bass in this lake are equiped with "blue gills"...

193.8I'm looking for one to mount..CHUNK::HANNAFINWed Jun 07 1989 17:5716
    I jumped on over to Horseshoe Pond at lunch today just to check it
    out. Once I got there I couldn't help myself. I grabbed the old
    pole, threw a purple rubber worm on it and went at it. I threw
    the worm into the lily pads and weeds a few times, nothing. Put
    my waders on, moved out into the pond about 8 feet and bang got
    a 2lb. Smallie on the third cast. Nothing after that. Fished
    both sides of the ramp for about an hour. Seems like a nice pond,
    but very populated around one side with all the condo's and such
    growing around there. Any comments on the pollution mentioned
    in re.0?? The smallie looked heathly to me. Anybody have any
    input to access of this pond from any points other than the ramp
    area??

    Thanks / Dan
