Live in Suncook, NH (just moved, so not familiar with the hotspots yet)
This will only be my second year as a "serious" basser.
Fish primarily small southern NH bass ponds from my canoe, however
this year Ihave access to power boats, so I plan on hitting more of the
larger lakes.
I try and fish around 3 times a week, a couple of late afternoons
after work, and sometime during the weekend. My canoe is a permanent
part of my car all spring.
Plan on doing some brook trout fishing this spring also.
My biggest bass last year was 3 lbs, but I plan on updating this
note SOON.

I've been a bass fisherman for most of my fishin' life but real
serious about it in the last 10. My current outfit is a 14' Old
Town canoe with a 24lb. thrust Eska electric motor and a Lowrance
portable flasher (it's for sale if anyone is interested...moving
up to an LCR).
My best bass last year was a 6.5lber with several 4-5+ lbers. All
my fishing is done in southern NH, primarily on Pawtuckaway Lake,
Lake Massabesic, Big & Little Turkey Ponds, and my SECRET "honey-hole".
My fishin buddy and I plan to investigate several new spots this
year. Lookin forward to OPEN WATER and hearing from the rest of

I work in Augusta as a Engineering Technician introducing new products

crewman, transplanted to Maine 15+ year ago. Have been fishing all my
life, started on bait, ran trotlines on the Mississippi River between
Iowa and Wisconsin, moved up to spinning, etc. Have been dedicated fly
fisherman (Elitist Type) for numerous years now. Fish pimarily
for trout and salmon, but go for the HAWGs in the warmer summer
months with my fly rod. Tye my own flies, expertly I might add.
About my only hobby is fishin, fishin, fishin. My biggest fish last
year was a 6 lb 8 oz Largemouth taken at night on a pearlescent
#2 cork popper with yellow hackle, from a canoe on my 8.5 Ft Fenwick
graphite, 8 lb tippet +-. It was QUITE the battle. I enjoy this
file a lot as I do anything associated with fishin in general.

I fish any chance I get. I was raised in Michigan and love fresh
water fishing. Locally, I restrict my efforts to spinning for
Salmon, Trout and Bass. I have a Grumman Pro 14' fishing boat with
a 15hp that I haul around southern NH. I just bought a new bait
casting rod and reel and plan to fish the Contoocock for bass this
summer.
My biggest fish last year was a 20" Salmon (I wish it was a 20lb
Salmon like my dad caught back in Michigan on 10 lb test).

84.8 | Ron - bass addict - Scholz | FELIX::SCHOLZ | Ron....and thanks for all the fish | Mon Mar 17 1986 11:42 | 40 |
| By way of introduction; Ron Scholz, Product Assurance Mgr. for LSI-A&T
in Marlbourgh Ma, LM02-P43. With DEC for 5 years.
I've been fishing for 40+ yrs and have enjoyed every one of them.
Having lived from Fla. to Alaska, and Texas to Mass. I've probably
fished for every kind of fish (sport-fish) know to man. Salmon in
Alaska and Washington State, Trout in Colo and Montana, Sailfish,
Marlin and Tarpon in Fla (plus a dozen others), Waleye, Muskey and
Northern Pike in Wisc. (where I was born on a lake) and BASS every
where they could be found. Like most others that have all ready
responded to this note, I think that fishing is the GREATEST sport
available to man (well.....maybe second, but not by much) and do
it every chance I get.
The biggest fish I have ever caught was a Blue Marlin that came
in at 346 lbs. The biggest bass weighed in at 12-4 lbs. This one
came from Okeechobee, and the Marlin from off the Bahamas. My biggest
Tarpon was 74 lbs on 20 pound test.........now that was a fight,
down in Keys on the flats. For a Trout I managed a 3.3 lb Rainbow
from the Pine River in Wisc. My biggest bass in Mass is a 5 1/2
lb'er two years ago at Whitehall Lake. Last years biggest was a
4+. I beat that one this weekend, but not in the state. I had to
leave to do it.
Around here (Mass) I fish from a 16'6" Ranger (not the big one)
with a 50hp Merc. I find that this is all that I need to get onto
and around the New England lakes. It does have the electronics and
such and a real nice trollling motor (that uses batteries like I
had stock in the company).
At this time, I'm using Boron Elite rods (Pro-Bass) for both casting
and spinning, with Garcia Ultra Mag Plus reels for the casting rods
and Shimano MLX-300 spinning reels on the others. While I usually
live and die with plastic worms, I use spinners, mainly saftey-pin
type and crank baits when I need to, or to find the fish before
going to a worm.
Okay, that's the story,
Tight lines and fair winds, Ron

| WHO: Steve Cuzzone; financial consultant for Springfield plant,
5 years in DEC, 1.5 spent in Greenville SC, the rest here in SPO.
FISHING BACKGROUND: After a layoff of about 20 years, I started
fishing again last spring. I'll fish for anything but have spent
most of my time looking for small and largemouth. I fish on the
average, 3 times a week. My partner once a week is my 5 year old
son and maybe this year I'll include my 3 year old daughter. We
do all our fishing from the shore and are saving up for a boat
hopefully for next year (my wife will allow this only if I buy one
she can waterski from). My favrite spots are the Connecticut River
and Westfield River (4 and 3/4 miles from my house respectively).
I am strictly a spinning gear user but that may change as my interest
matures.
BIGGEST FISHES: My best was an 8 lb Cod caught within sight of P'town
last summer. I'll be attempting to better that the first weekend
in May. Best bass have been in the 2 lb range. I'm looking to
do much better this summer. Hopefully I've learned a thing or two
over the winter between magazines, videos and this file.

| Spence Frasher
CXO1-1/P25
Electronics Tech II for Large disk engineering.
Colorado Springs, CO
Born and raised in Colorado. Fished for trout. Spent 10 years
in the Air Force. In Tacoma, Washington fished for cod, rockfish,
bass, trout, perch, punkinseed, and anything else that might bite.
Back in Colorado now, I fish primarily for trout, but I want to
try for bass this summer. I have converted 95% to flyfishing.
I've got one toe attached to a worm, but the flies are pulling hard.
If I can learn how to catch fish on a nymph, I'll be 100% fly fishing.
I tie my own flies. Its a great pass time.
I own a 15' fiberglass tri-hull ski boat that doubles as a fishing
boat on large lakes. I fish mostly from banks or on streams. Its
got an 85 HP Mercury outboard and is a little fast for trolling.
I'm taking a class on flyfishing and learning a lot. By this time
next year, I might be able to claim a large fish. But for now:
The largest fish I ever caught was a 15' ling cod. (See note 80.2)
(I caught this mistake, but I left it in for humor's sake. It
wasn't 15 feet, rather 15 lbs., roughly 2')
The largest trout was about 12" and I thought it was large.
The largest bass was about 12", but I knew it was small.
The largest "fish" I ever caught broke my 20 lb. line before I ever
saw it. One yank, and I almost went overboard. That was in
the Puget Sound in Wash.
The stangest "fish" I ever caught is a toss up. It would be either
the harbor seal, or the anemone attached to a 6" diameter rock.
Possibly the crab, crawdad, or starfish. Tough choice!!!

I was born on the shores of lake michigan in wisconsin. I have
been fishing for about 15 years and will do so for the rest of
my life. I fish mostly for trout but have been getting into bassing
more and more over the past 4 years, I have also done quite a bit
of deep water fishing on lake Michigan before I moved to Colorado
6 years ago. The biggest fish I have ever caught was a 38" 24 +lbs
chinook salmon, I was about 12 years old at the time and it almost
pulled me off the boat. It was caught on a down rigger in about
70 feet of water 3 miles from shore. I have a 14' Glasspar inclosed
bow fishing boat with a 35 horsepower Evenrude and a 20 lb thrust
sigma electric trolling motor. I also have a older Ray Jeff fish
finder and a pair of down riggers for trolling. I try to get out
on the lakes at least once a week if at all possible and really
enjoy getting out even if I do get skunked which don't happen to
often I am glad to say. I am an loyal reader of this file and enjoy
the tips from all of you guys out there.

LSEE in Maynard and have been with DEC for 7+ years starting out
in F/S. Now that the B.S. is out of the way, on to a more interesting
subject.
I've been fishing since I can remember, and after almost a ten year
lull (I must have got lost!) I am returning to it more seriously
than I ever was. I fish primarily for trout and have a desire to
master the ways of trolling without resorting to wire, lead cores,
or heavy weights. Occassionally, I fish for bass with just about
anything (bass eat just about anything don't they? :-)) and
particularly like taking them with deer hair bugs on a fly rod.
I have a 15.5' semi-vee aluminum boat with 9.8 Merc and Minn Kota
trolling motor that I try to get out in at least once a week. I
fish the ponds in Central Mass. mostly and always feel drawn to
the Quabbin.
On a related side topic, I've just started fish taxidermy as a hobby,
and the first fish I'm working on is a 20lb. chinook salmon taken
last fall from Lake Ontario.

| Hi, I'm from Joisy!
My name is Rich Horwitz, and I've been with DEC for almost 8 years
now. I've been fishing the Jersey shore for close to 30 years. I
do most of my fishing in the surf from Sandy Hook (Gateway Nat'l
Park) south to the Manasquan River (about 1/3 of our ocean front).
The last few years I have been fishing 2 or 3 tides per week at
"the Hook" for striped bass, blues, weakfish, fluke (summer flounder)
and anything else that I can get to eat a plug or bucktail.
I have been reading this file for about 6 months now and am surprised
that there aren't more Saltwater types with system access. I know
that most of my fellow beach rats are pretty tight lipped s.o.b.s
but we can lie with the best of them.
C'mon you guys - we even have some serious things to discuss: beach
access (anyone own a beach house I can fish in front of?), POLLUTION,
and Mr .Reagans $10 fishing tax!!!!!
Current Events: our flounder season has been blah, but there have
been a lot of "short" stripers caught (a promising sign for the
future), the party boats are catching ling, whiting (both are hakes),
blackfish (tautog) and "Boston" mackeral.
I expect to be out at the Hook for both sunrises this weekend and
will try to report back next week.
If anyone is around the N.Y./N.J Area, look for a blue "k" wagon
with N.J. Beach Buggy tag #603 and introduce yourself.
Tight lines,
Rich

| Guy Fisher - Network and Communication Documentation Supervisor
I'll fish for anything at anytime with anyone. I was entered in
a shad derby the first weekend in May. Last Thursday I took 74 flounder
out of Quincy bay with a friend. I run an ice fishing trip to Champlain
every year in March, and now I don't know what to do as the cod
are in the Merrimack and the bass are starting to spawn. My wife
and I are going camping in Connecticut this weekend (she's camping,
I'm fishing Pachaug).
My best:
Largemouth - 7lb 1oz out of Washacum in Sterling
Smallmouth - 4lb 3oz out of Quabbin
I guess my favorite quarry is ol bucketmouth and I fish all around
Central Mass for them. I live in Lunenburg and do all of my bass
fishing from my coleman canoe. At this time of year I manage to
get out 3 or 4 times a week.
My main saltwater goal is to catch a trophy striper (or rockfish
as my Maryland friends call them).

| Hi! My name is Lou Hohos and I'm a F/S Product Training Manager
at Stow, and I've been with Dec for 19 years.
I haven't fished since I was a kid in age and have just taken up
the sport again mainly to insure that the boy-child and I have some
quality time together. I am addicted to bass fishing and I try to
get out as often as possible. I live in Fitchburg,Ma. and do most
of my fishing at Mare Meadow in Westminster. In addition to the
potential of some good fishing, this place is quiet and serene.
There are a few restrictions here such as no boats and no live
minnows, its really not a bother since I don't have a boat yet and
I prefer plastic worms. I have managed to catch a few 2-3lbers,but
no hawgs yet. I am still in the process of paying my dues. Several
weeks ago I wasn't paying much attention when I got a hit that
startled me and I didn't properly drive the hook through the worm
and after horsing me around for a few minutes, this beauty leaped
out of the water, spit out the worm and then I swear grinned at
me. Last weekend I was using a huge spinner-bait with a trailing
8" plastic worm(must of got that from watching too many Jimmy Houston
videos) and again a hawg blasted it but I was ready this time and
proceeded to bring it home. About ten feet from shore this bass
takes a right turn and dives over a sharp rock ledge and my 14lb.
test line was cut and my second dream was gone, and I'm sure he
was laughing at me. One of these days....
Please include me in the tournament also. Well it's about time to
head for Mare Meadow for some peace and quiet and perhaps another
thrill.

| Hi GUYS!
My name is Ann Childree. I was born and raised in Mobile, Al.
My father is a commercial shrimper, so was his father, my mother's
father, my brothers, uncles and so on. We grew up between two
rivers and by the bay. One river is now a ship channel, surrounded
by industry. So, I was practically born on the water.
I started work for DEC as LDP salesrep in DALLAS in 1976, but left to return
to my home town of Mobile. I returned to work for DEC as a software
specialist in 1984.
I am a member of BASS'N GALS, local Saltwater Sportsman and used
to be a member of the local Mobile DELTA BASS'N BABES.
I have fished for bass, bream and white perch in the Mobile DELTA.
Flounder, redfish, speckled trout, sheephead, white trout, ground
mullet and you name it in the Mobile BAY.
On the gulf side of Dauphin Island, I fish for Spanish Mackeral,
King Mackeral, red snapper, whiting, blue fish and yes, I have
caught many, many sharks.
My favorite times have included stopping by the barrier islands
(Dauphin, Horn, Petit Bois and Sand Islands) to cool off at Mid-day.
I fish every weekend if I can. Would be King mackeral fishing today, except
I have a sore throat and have lost my voice.
I have two boats. A small 15' runabout with a 65 HP Mercury for
Delta and bay fishing and a 21' Aquasport with 140 Evinrude for
gulf fishing.
What's my biggest fish. Gee, I don't know. Nothing great. Just
lots of average sized. 5 lb. specks, 10 lb. reds and 20 lb. kings,
so on.
Gotta go!

Matt Bagdy - System Administration in Burlington, VT.
I've been at DEC for 5 1/2 years.
I enjoy Pickerel shooting in the spring, fly fishing anytime and
conventional rod/reel anytime as well. Most of the time, you'll
find me relaxing at the side of a river, or out with my brother
on his boat, trolling for the larger species. Lake Champlain is
one of the better area's up here to fish in, with the exception
that the `Sea Lamprey' has been fouling things up the past couple
of seasons. I've had to kill too many fish that had nice sized
chunks ripped outta' them because of the Lamprey, if the fish wasn't
dead already. I used to be out almost every weekend, with the
exception of the last two seasons. Long hours, six and sometimes
seven day work weeks do wonders for a Fisherman's R&R.
Can't exactly remember the largest fish I caught though......most
of them I'ld just take off the line and throw back without bothering
to measure. (Perch is the only fish I really keep at the moment.)
If anyone has any questions regarding fishing around Vermont, I'll
try to answer them to the best of my ability.

-< New Guy on the block>-
Hi folks,
My name is Mike and I'm new to this fishin notes stuff.(It's great!)
I've been with DEC for four years and have recently moved to Gardner,
Mass. (from Rhode Island) to work in a design engineering group at
LTN1 (Littleton, Foster St.)
I've been reading up on all the good spots to hit around the Gardner
area. I have to admit I haven't done a lot of Bass fishin yet --
(I know---Boooooo-Hisssss) as I spent most of the last couple of
years on the small ponds and streams of Rhode Island trying to
catch Trout. I did happen to get a trophy (for me anyway) last
year on opening day. It was a 4 1/2 lb, 24" Rainbow. It is now
hanging on my wall in my living room.
I do plan to do more "Bassin" this year though. It sounds like you
folks up here have much better Bass spots than in Rhode Island.
I sent away to DEM for some pond maps of local ponds and lakes.
Now all I have to do is get the time to go. (I would just as soon
go every day. Probably wouldn't get too many more checks, though.)
Anybody out there live and fish around the gardner area?

| I just found this note today.
I'm David Haigh. I have been with DEC 12+ years initially in the
UK and for the last 9 years over in MK.
I prefer deep sea fishing but want to do other kinds. My kid is
now getting to the age where she wants to fish so I will start taking
her.
I live in Nashua.

| Hey Jim. I live Mass. now but spent 21 years in Ill. As far as
walleye go you hit the big one, Lake Wisc.. However I always liked
Devils Lake near Baraboo. If walleye are not hitting northern and
Bass will be. Nice place to camp too.
ahhh to taste a walleye.......

84.31 | Gettin' back into it! | UXB::TERRELL | | Wed Apr 06 1988 14:52 | 41 |
| O.K., Here goes. My name is Gene Terrell. I have been with DEC
for 5 years and currently reside(and that's no joke lately) at the
Andover facility (DAS).
I have been out of fishing except for an occasional trip to the
local pond with the kids for about 15 years (I don't know what
happened to me). I was raised in Texas and Louisiana around some
mighty fine bassin' holes, but never really got involved in the
artificial bait sport. I spent most of my time live bait fishing
for catfish, crappie and an occasional bass, but never really got
serious about it.
Lately, I have had a natural craving for getting back into fishing
in a big way. I really appreciate all the valuable info I've been
able to pick up in this and the boats file. I feel it will give
me a headstart when I breakout for the first time this week-end.
I have spent the past several weeks looking for a boat with the
intention of getting a small fishing boat. Well, ya' know how that
goes. The small fishing boat had to have enough room for the kids(2)
and the wife(occasionally) so it grew a little. Then the kids decided
they couldn't live one more summer without learning to water-ski.
O.K., I used to ski and could get back into it real easily. So
I spent the better part of the past three months looking at boats,
boats, and more boats trying to find the ideal family boat only
to find out that the boat I want doesn't exist. Anyway, after several
compromises on both ends, I wound up buying a 15' Larson (DC 150)
with a 70HP Merc. It really isn't the ideal bassin' boat, but I
will make it work! Actually, most of the places I want to go are
big enough and have ramps that will handle it, so except for built
in livewells, rodholders, etc. that mark the true fishing boat,
I am all set.
I live in Townsend, Ma. and have been searching the area for the
best bassin' spots and am prepared to CHARGE as soon as the boat
is ready for delivery.
Thanks again for all the good info in the file. I hope to be
successful enough to become a regular contributor.

| Hi, Coonass! Born in Kilgore (East Texas) and lived in Shreveport
for about 10 years - still have family in both places. My wife
is originally from Mass. and when we left Florida in '77 she wanted
to move to Dallas, but I said "Naaaw, I've been there. Let's try
New England." Been here ever since. I do like it, but I get homesick
for some warm water with snakes and 'gators occasionally. I fished
mostly on Lake Bisteneau, Cross Lake, Caddo, Lake 'O the Pines,
and had a couple of nice trips to Toledo Bend. Looking forward
to about three weeks in the vicinity next summer.
re: .32
I don't know whether I'm ready for the tournaments yet, but I
appreciate the invite and ...... who knows?

| Howdy,
My name is Larry (Bass) Bourgeois and I have been with DEC for
nine years in Kanata, Ontario, Canada. I've been fishing since
I was six or seven, which was quite a few years ago. The last ten
years I've concentrated pretty heavily on bass although I still
like to practice versatility by catching the other warm water species
every once in awhile. I subcribe to seven different fishing mags
and I've done a little writing for a couple of regional ones too.
I love reading this notes file and have added a little to it
every once in awhile to try and help others catch more fish.
Chow 4 now!

84.36 | | HSKAPL::AALTO | Erkki Aalto @FNO A&L Portfolio | Tue Dec 27 1988 07:08 | 23 |
| Hi there! My name is Erkki Aalto and I've been with DEC Finland
for four years now. I have worked in logistics and portfolio in
several positions.
I've been fishing since the size of "fire extinguisher" and now
fishing is my hobby no. 1. Most of my fishing takes place on Gulf
of Finland's archipelago and my most important "target" is seatrout.
Other game fish species available are pike, perch, zander and cod.
I'm mostly casting but do also some trolling, angling and flyfishing.
I've also got a 20' boat with 60 hp outboard to get where the big
ones are waiting. Haven't had too much success yet;my best trout is
11+ pounder, pikes up to 13-14lbs and cod 17-18lbs. My fishing tackle
consists of multipliers (most Ambassadeurs) and spinning reels (ABU
Cardinals and Mitchells) and rods to match. Nowadays usually graphite
but also some glassfibre "stiks" too. Kevlar is nice too.
So, waiting for spring!
