no mon, i'm from down near Breaux Bridge and Bayou Teche...Got mysef
to Dallas by followin crawfish holes. did't know i was followin
    a pegged-led mon.

Las weeken i go to my camp at Lake Bistineau to try some bass fishin.
Seturday mornin i try to start my ol bass boat, it won't go. i tink
mebbe de arbitraor full of awl, ya know de gas devaporate an leave
de awl. Mebbe my foonchock nefew don it, i dunno. My nextdoor neighbor
mon come by in his boat an ast me if i wanted to go wif him an i
say ok. We go to Mudd Island, Whiskey Slough and also fish de big
cyprus trees alongbeside de channel, but we don do no good. We go
fish in near de bank an i catched a lil, 1-1 1/2 pounder wif a yellow
    H&H next to a boathouse.

We decide to giv it up an git som brekfas. When we git near de camp
we see a mon fishin rat out in fron of my camp. He in a fancy boat
wit all dem chut chus on it. He standin up on de front wid a long(6
1/2-7foot) rod, holdin de line wid de other han. He wuz usin de
black crawfish an jiggin alongside all de trees. We talked to him
an follered him usin de strollin motor. He had already caught bout
8 an he wuz lookin for a few big ones. He wuz in a bass torniqit
an he sed he needed bou 20 pounds or he wudnt way in. We watched
him fish a boat house at de Campbells camp an he caught a 4 pounder.
He was awful thin tho, had a big head, but no weight on him.

He sed de sprawlin season wud start in 2-3 weeks an you cud git
in a boat jes a few yards off de bank wid dem solenoid glasses on
an see some of de biggest bass you ever saw!! Dere are plenty sand
out in front of my camp where dey sprawl ebery year. We watched
him use a wurm wid a spoon on de front of it an cast on top of de
duck moss by de bank. He say sometimes you find a big one dis way.

I plan to go back in mebbe a cupla weeks. I'll let you know wat
    i see.

    		Bonjour!!

74.6Northeast rod/reel showISHTAR::TEMPPioneer Steve CuzzoneTue Mar 11 1986 17:1614
It probably doesn't compare with the Dallas show, but I enjoyed
the Northeast Outdoor Show at the Big E last weekend. About 400
display booths, mostly fishing equipment manufacturers and dealers.
Best deal was worms by the pound (about 200 worms for $5). Based
on the prices I saw at the show, I went to K-Mart afterwards and
bought a new rod (Berkley Lightning Rod).

After I got home, I started to read all the literature I picked
up and see that the pros are all moving away from 100% graphite
to composite rods. I'm moving up from fiberglass, so it's bound
to be an improvement, but would I have been better off with composite.
It cost less, any other advantages?

    Cousin C.B.,

Fenwick appears to have an incomplete selection among their 1986
offerings. My new Berkley claims to have "radial" graphite
construction. I don't know how it will fish, but I figure it will
come in handy if I get a flat tire.
