I'm glad you feel that way. That means that you probably will
stay home and fish around where you are. What this also means is
that the people who do come up here will have more fish. Isn't
that nice of you. Note .0 was no lie, although there has been some
bad days just like any other lake has, overall the fishing is good
    at Moosehead Lake Maine.

A friend and I are planning a trip to the Moosehead area in May
this year. We have info on two places in Jackman. They are both
housekeeping cottage types and both are $250.00 for a week.
One is Sally Mountain Cabins and the other I found out is right
across the road , Tuckaway Shores Cabins.
I was told that this is about 45 mins. from Moosehead lake and that
there were quite a few ponds right in the Jackman area that have
the same kinds of fish found at Moosehead. (Togue, trout, perch,
    cusk)
Can anybody from the area (or been there) that can fill me in on
how these cabins are and the fishing in the area?
I have to call soon to make reservations.

    Thanks in advance,
Looking forward to a week of Nirvana....
    Mike

| 5.6 | Spencer Lake in Jackman | AKOV12::LESHIN |  | Mon Mar 07 1988 12:24 | 8 |
| | I go to the Jackman area every year and fish Spencer Lake. The lake
has a hole that goes down to 160 feet. It is about seven miles long.
I have taken Lakers, Salmon, and brookies from the lake. The only
cabins on the lake are Hardscrabble Lodge. They get $20 per person
per day. (207-243-2946 7-10a.m. 4-7p.m.) Best time to fish is right
after ice-out otherwise the fish go down when it gets cold.

| | I too would like information on any cabins or cottages located on
Moosehead. Would like something directly on the water, preferably
with a boat launch. Thanks in advance.

| | I know of three good places on Moosehead, all with access to prime
    fishing areas.

    Casey's Camps...east side...at entrance to Spencer Bay.

    The Birches...west side...near Moose River...Rockwood.

    Tomhegan Camps...west side...near Socatean/Tomhegan streams.

All pretty nice places...call Greenville Chamber of Commerce for
    phone numbers.
