"Native" and "Rainbows" don't go together well in Massachusetts. I'd be surprised to hear that there are any such beasties in this state. Native Brookies, otoh, aren't too hard to find - off the beaten path a bit (well, even ON the beaten path if you fish the Swift River). In any case, finding water that isn't stocked might be the real challenge. Our F&W dept will stock virtually anything that'll support trout. So you may well have to get a handful of USGS topo maps and scope out a few trib's either in Central Mass up near the NH border, or Western Mass (emptying into the Deerfield, for instance) worth taking a shot at. /dave |
