Went out on saturday from Westport Ma around 7:00 AM. Fishing was slow
for first couple of hours then picked up after moving to several
different ledge locations. Got about eight bass two keepers one
47" one 34" from there they when't 33" and lower. Lots of large blues
did'nt have scale but would guess many of them were in 20lb region.

Was this a charter ? Are charters available in the Westport area?
I sometimes visit Westport River Winery and have wondered about fishing
while me ladies go to Horseneck Beach. A 1/2 day charter then
reconvene the familyat the Winery before going to come of the excellent
restaurants in the area could make for a nice weekend away without the
hassle of Cape traffic or the added distance. It's a "new" section of
coast line to me. Any place to surfcast ? Thanks for the asnwers and
for sharing your "luck"!

Bob, the fellow I charter with Bill Reynolds is an ex Decie and has
worked out of westport on a part time basis for the past thirty years.
He has a six hour charter but I'm sure he would also do a half day.You
need to get in touch with him early where he has a steady base of old
customers. I have been using him for a number of years fishing with
my four boy's and never came home without keepers in fact last week was
slow with two keepers. As for surf fishing they seem to fish the
channel near the boat yard and also the harbor entrance, never tried
it but I believe there are some niece fish caught there. Bills home
number is 508-582-9285 , he usually does weekends only unless you
happen to catch him on vacation from his regular job.
