Thought there wasan Allagash note somewhere in here, but I couldn't find it. Must have been in _V1, anyway... I'm considering spending a week on the Allagash next year and if at all possible would like to try and catch the best fishing time period that falls outside of blackfly season. Anyone familiar with the area? -donmac

Hi Don, I have fished Lake Alagash the third week in May. No bugs to speak of, still too cold at night. Trout are still on top at that time of the year. If I went again, I'd go at the the same time. Gone fishin Gaff | |||||

I'd agree with that time frame. Many years ago I did a week long canoe trip on the St John's (a little north of Allagash). It's a little cold then, but I'd take that over the bugs any day. Mark, |
