454.0. "5 bass, 34-40 inches / charter recommendation" by AOSG::HEBENSTREIT () Thu Jul 13 1995 19:09

Yesterday 7/12 evening I had the opportunity to go fishing with
Captain John Savage of Rye, NH. We fished at the Isle of Shoals
with cut herring. As we left the dock, John expressed concern
that we were a little late in the tide cycle for fishing. Earlier
that day he said his charter got 21 keepers. Alas, we only got
    5 ranging from 34 to 40 inches. Not a bad trip ...

John's charter was pretty inexpensive too. $140 for 4 hours,
taking up to 6 people. (However, i'd recommend that no more
than 4 people fit comfortably in his boat.) Unfortunately, I
didn't get his phone number ... if you're interested in contacting
John, try the Rye phone directory.

    Happy fishing, mark

I have always thought that there should be a lot of bass at the Isle's but have never
caught one or have heard of any caught out there before.

Where were you fishing? in close to the rocks?

Thanks for the info

Last yr. my son went out with Al Gauron on a Bluefish trip. They
went to the Isle. He was the first to hook up. It turned out to be a
      27 lb. striper.

Yes, we were fishing in about 20 feet of water, between a rock that was
awash on each wave and a rock cliff.
