445.1 | Just Warm the Numbers, Not Burn Them | SALEM::BLUFIS::ABRAMS | | Wed Apr 12 1995 16:36 | 8 |

A hair dryer will not melt fiberglass. My exhaust pipes in my
boat are made out of fiberglass. All you want to do is warm the
letters to soften the glue so they peel off easy.

445.2 | Hair dryer and rubbing alcohol | MSBCS::MERCIER | | Wed Apr 12 1995 16:37 | 6 |
| I just removed some numbers off of a friends boat this weekend. We used
a hair dryer and rubbing alcohol. The hair dryer did not damage the
glass at all. Once we peeled the numbers off we used the rubbing
alcohol to take off the excess glue. Worked really well.........

445.3 | Out of State Purchase?? | NCMAIL::FRASCH | | Tue Apr 18 1995 13:56 | 4 |
| Did you buy the boat out of state? If not, chances are the registration
numer will stay the same!!! (That's usually the case!)

| I moved from Mass. to New Jersey; NJ let me keep the old numbers except
for replacing MA with NJ. I moved from NJ to NH; we used license plates
on the transom. When NH finally went to bow numbers, NH let me keep the
NJ numbers except for replacing the NJ with NH.
YMMV,

445.6 | try wd40 | WMOIS::MESSIER_M | | Fri Jul 14 1995 15:50 | 6 |

I have heard that WD40 will remove most anything glued to any surface.
I have not checked this out personally, but it is cheap enough to try
out.
