Some friends and I are planning on chartering a boat out of Rhode
Island sometime this summer and we are hoping to get into some
yellowfin or mako action.
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with either the Lil' Toot
out of Pt. Judith or the Billfish II out of Watch Hill. If anyone has
any recommendations for any other charters I would be happy to hear
about them as well.
Regards...
Mike

Bill Reynolds Ex Decccy runs a boat out of Westport RI. I have been
using Bill for Stripper fishing with my boy's and have always cuaght
lots of fish and keepers every time. I just got his material for this
year and he does both Shark and Tuna. I have never had anything but
best fo luck with this guy and he left Dec alst fall and I assume he
will charter full time this summer.

You might want to try either the Gail Francis or the Lady Francis out
of Point Judith. Went out on a stand up yellowfin charter last year and
had some very good results. Both the captain and crew were a great
bunch of people. Don't have specifics with phone numbers, but probably
could dig them up.

That's funny. I went on the Lady Francis on a stand up trip and had quite
different results. I never saw the captain, he didn't say two words all trip
and the mates were insulting and lazy. They have a "rule" --you can't use a
knife. Ha. What they mean to say is "Great, you caught 50 chicken dolphin and
we're going to charge you a buck a piece to clean them." Because, the mates
were too busy to cut up bait (cause they were catching dolphin too) and didn't
mind you cutting bait.
I hooked a tuna, but it got wrapped on the thrusters and broke off. The
mahi-mahi were excellent eating and fun to catch, but not very big. Not worth
$180 and 12 hours of steaming. It's a nice boat, however.
I know that some trips are fishier than others, but I didn't feel like the crew
tried very hard.
$180 is a lot of money for me to part with to be treated that way.
