I knew I should have stayed close to home. I left the Merrimack
and went out to the Isle of Shoals and trolled all around and got
nothing Saturday. Thanks for the good fish report.

I went right by Plumb Island out to Halibut point. There were blues
hitting out there. I picked up a few but had to get back to Newburyport
to pick up the little woman. I noticed the fleet off the polio camp on
the way in. I would venture a guess that the easterly's of the last
couple of days has got the blues right in the river.

Monday night was equally dead in the Merrimack. I heard the blues
were in the river Monday morning, but it was totally dead Monday
night.

Well we made it out again Saturday night. Got in the water about 6:30 pm. Weather wasn't to bad, it was rainy but it was also warm out. Only boated two fish, 41" and 32". Fishing was slow but it was nice to get a keeper. But let me tell you about the ride home. It is about 2 am. We're putting the boat on the trailer, about two more feet to go and the winch cable breaks. What to do - tried a knot in the cable and brought it in slowly (also try to stay out of the way.) Well it worked and we got the boat onto the trailer. Pack up the boat and get on the road. Stop at dunkin donuts for a coffee and I'm passing in front of the truck. I hear PSSSSSSS !! WHAT NOW ! Seal for the thermostat is leaking. Get some water and then tighten the bolts as much as I dared. Put the cap on the radiator lose and it looked OK. So now I get on the highway and with all the confusion, I forgot to get gas. So it is now about 3:30 am. We get down to 110 in Haverhill and we think there is a gas station there thats open. Well we're right. I go into pay, while my partner is filling the truck. I start to get into the truck and look at the trailer. FLAT TIRE !! I have two tires on each side of my trailer but no spare. So I still have three good tire. What to do - Well this is a station with a store. So we go back in and buy (fix a flat in a can). This works and we're off again. Thank god no more problem after this. Anyone into the Southern NH area have a 15" Ford tire/rim for sale ? Plent of fishing left, don't put those boats away yet.
