| In Article 6533 of rec.outdoors.fishing:
someone had ask "Antique Equipment - where to sell it?"
I have no idea who this person is, but they suggested
that you Try Bob Lang. I know you did not say you
wanted to sell it but he might be able to point to
the proper reference that could tell you what you
want.

| Look in Bass Pro catalog. There is a page that requests people to
contact them about antique fishing equipment if I recall...You may have
found a gold mine...some rare lures go for thousands...

| Also there was an antique fishing show in Worchester last weekend,
I will see If I can find the article as the article seem to indicate
that there was an antique club in this area.

| Re: the Bristol telescoping steel rod - that was my first fishing rod, in
1949. It was painted dark brown; had a cork handle. Mine had an Ocean
City level-wind reel on it, with 36# linen line. I could cast a bobber
and worm - oh - I bet I could get it out there 30 feet, half the time.
The other half ended in picking backlashes out for five minutes or so.
The Bristol rod lasted until the first trip down to Westport Harbor for
flatfish. Nobody told me about rust.

| I would second going to an Antique Fishing Show. Bring the gear with
you. You may find a friendly person that would look at it for you.
MOST DEFINATELY it could be worth a lot of money. Talk to several
people about prices. You don't need to sell it, but you may want to
know. BTW don't use it if you don't have to, condition is everthing
with these old pieces of equipment!!
Good Luck
