It is with great sadness that I inform all of you that Keith "Gitzit"
Hauer passed away in his sleep Saturday night.

We are not sure of the cause of his death except that he died in his
sleep. Like all of you I am in shock, Keith was a great guy, an avid
fisherman and a father to five kids. I will miss him a lot.

The wake will be held at the O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home at 592
Park Avenue in Worcester. It will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and at
7-9 PM. This place is on the end of Park Avenue near Webster Square.
If anyone needs directions please feel free to contact me.

His funeral service will be held On Wednesday at Christ the King
Church 1052 Pleasant Street Worcester I don't have the time yet but
will post it as soon as I find out.

Don't know what to say, it was a great shock to me. He was real
nice guy. My heart goes out to his family. Legend suggested we
hold a benefit tourny this spring. Real good idea.

Here are the directions

There are a multiple routes to get to the Funeral Parlor, this set of
directions is the easiest to follow.

Take 290 to the College Square Exits If your coming West bound you
will follow the rotary off the exit until Holy Cross College is on
your right. This is Southbridge Street. You'll will be going back
under rt. 290. After you come out from under the overpass, at the next
set of lights there will be a supermarket on your right and a Church
on your left. Take a left at this light, this is Cambridge Street.
Follow Cambridge for a couple of miles till it ends at a traffic
light. The Webster House Restaurant will be on your left. Follow the
street straight through the light and immediately get into the right
lane. At the next lights will be a Mobile Station on your right.
Take a right here onto Mill Street. Follow Mill until the next light
and in front of a round building bear right this becomes Park Avenue.
Immediately get into the left lane and the O'Connor Funeral Home will
be the 3 or 4th building on the left hand side.

The phone number for O'Connors is (508)754-2431

follow the directions to the funeral home. At the lights in front of
the round building go straight and not to the right. You will pass a
Dunkin Donuts on your right and a Tire place on your left this is Mill
Street. Stay on Mill Street till it ends at a light. There will be a
Mobile Station across on your left and a getty (i think) on your right. Go

  Friends...
As we traverse through life we tend to enter periods
where little affects us. Yesterday is like today...and today
will be like tomorrow. We put off doing and saying what ought
to be said and done. We rarely give thanks for our many blessings.
Especially the blessings of simple friendships; of being associated
with good and honorable people. And then Keith dies...

As mere mortals it is impossible to understand why, in Gods,
infinite wisdom, he took Keith from us. To many this is a troubling
question...to me it is not. I recognize that I am not God and can't
even come close to being as wise and great as he. I do not understand
how my car works but I accept that... I don't always understand how
God works and I accept that as well.

So the question remains...how do we deal with Keiths death?

First and foremost instead of rebelling against God for taking
Keith from us we give mighty thanks for having been given the opportunity
to know him. I didn't know Keith as well as many of you but it didn't
take long to form opinions about him. He seemed to be a honest, honorable
and upright man. A man who was proud of his children. A man who would
offer help to someone in need. I will fondly remember the man. And when
I remember him he will be wearing his ever present smile.

Secondly we should look out for his children. Keith would have
wanted that...he would have appreciated that. These kids are now burdened
with no longer having their Dad around. Today there is little that we can
do to take away their pain...to take away their sorrow. We can however
try to provide for their future financial and emotional means. We can all
donate to the Hauer Childrens Trust C/O Flagship Bank, 4 Mower Street,
Worcester, Ma. 01602. Even if you didn't know Keith please still make a
contribution for his five young children. Maybe you didn't know Keith but
he wasn't much different than you and I. Wouldn't you want others to look
after your children? Think about that for a moment!

Keith loved to fish. He was also the treasurer of the Digital
Bass Association. As such I would like to see our club hold a yearly
fishing tournament in his honor. Not only would all proceeds go to the
Hauer Childrens Trust but his kids would get to see how much others cared
for their father. Year after year after year.

In death Keith has presented us with an opportunity. A chance
to be compassionate. A chance to care. Please take the chance!

Is there anymore news on how it happened ? I didn't really know Keith
other than from the notesfile. Even so, I can't help feeling bad for his
    wife and kids.

I know it's no consulation, but if one has to go, falling asleep and
not waking up would probably be the most preferred way.
