I'm looking for a VHF radio for my boat. My old one died from corrosion. Does anyone know anything about VHF radios made by PULSTAR or Apelco ? They are in my price range, but I've never heard of these companies. Any recommendations ? Thanks Ken

Apelco is sold thru the BOAT/US catalog. I've had mine for two years of trouble-free air time. Not a lot of bells & whistles, but it's reliable. | |||||

I reccomend ICOM or SKANTI. I worked in the marine electronics trade for 3 years and for what its worth you get what you pay for. These are paticulary good as you can quite easily set up private channels without the fuss of getting crystals. ICOM 55 or 100 ARE EXCELLENT. |
