I have a question. A friend went to NH last week, when he read over the rules book he was left with the impression that it is illegal to fish any freshwater body of water for any type of fish between 1 hr. after sundown and 1 hr. before sunrise. Is this true and if so how and why was such a law passed? thanks, bob

I think that law is for "cold water species", i.e. salmon/trout. The lake I fish at in So. N.H. had an all night fishing tourny Saturday night that ended Sunday morning at 8:00. Bass, pickeral, perch, sunfish, bluegill, crappie etc are all "warm water species". Fishing licenses are divided into 2 categories. 1.) All species- $22 and some change 2.) Warm water species- I think about 4-5 $ less than all species Don't ask why........... Jeff (Captain) Team Starcraft

.1 is correct. RSA 211:2 states that no brook trout, lake trout, lake trout hybrids or salmon shall be taken between 2 hours after sunset to 1 hour before sunrise, except that brown trout may be taken in certain waters. I believe this is done to prevent poaching.
