Contoured depth charts for more then 80 Vt. lakes (I believe they have one
for Memphremagog) are available for $1.00 ea. from Dept. of
    Environmental Conservation, Waterbury, Vt 05602, Tel.:802 244-6951.
I've called them and have had them send them out the same day. They
even trust you enough to send the bill with the maps. For a buck you
    can't go wrong.

Cruise the Lake to where you see all the locals stacked
up together.Thats always where the Walleyes are on the
Lake.Last year there was 25 or more boats fishing flats
out in the middle of nowhere on the Canadian side for
4 daze straight.Remember to check in before crossing
the border in your boat or the authorities will be all
             over ewe.

We fished Smallies and they are everywhere on that Lake.

Thank's to both of you for the promt replies.

    Bruce,

Called Dept. of Environmental Conservation they transferred me to the
Dept. of Water Quality. Who informed me the charts are available thru
the Dept. of Fisheries & Oceans. in Canada for $12.00 each. Vermont
doesn't have them because most of the lake is in Canada.
Will post how I make out.

    Keg,

I figured I whould need the Canadian fishing licence, is there a place
right on the lake that you check in with to cross back inforth across
the border, or do you need to drive up into canada?
Pick up any Notherns of any size? My last trip to The Thousnd Island's
fishing for Smallies coundn't keep the Notherns off the hooks.

Didn't here anyone say anything about Northerns alot
          of pickeral,bigens though.

The checkin is on the left hand side of the lake.Last year
they had buoys marking the border. The checkin consists of
a large dock with a phone and a small shack.Just pickup
the phone and wait for someone to answer, then they ask EWE
for registration,if your smuggling any dope (apparently
they ran out) cigarettes etc and what you are going to be
          doing in Canada.

When ewe get that map look for a LARGE 30 - 40 foot flat in the
middle of the lake on the Canadian side. Also you will be
paying for a full year license thats about $42 American and
can be obtained just across the border in a small conveinience
          store on the right.

After abot 6 phone calls to Ottawa, and two to Quebec finaly got
the info needed. Don't let them send you to Magog for their map

I started with Vermont Fish and Game they sent me to Canada then
because my wife had to make the canada calls it got confused. After
about 4 calls she was sent to Magog, Quebec, Canada who sent a free
map of the lake, all 4k+ acers where on letter size paper it had
depth readings only no contour lines so for fishing or navigation
    looked useless to me.

So its the only useable one I could find for my purposes

Send me your mail stop I'll send you a copy of the free one.

The "Ringer" and I went up there last summer and we bought a map at the book
store. I can't remember the name of the town but it is the big(?) one at the
south end of the lake.

The map is a large navagation type chart of at least the south end of the lake.
