anyone provide any information on the lake or surrounding area. Is the
salmon fishing that time of year worth bringing the gear
    Thanks Rick

I was just up visiting a friend and as far as I can tell, Maine is
similar to NH in that little country stores sell licences. There may be
other places like K-Mart that sell them too.

    	The 3-day license costs $17.

| | Gerb Check your local tackle shop and find out if they sell a maine
lic# down here in mass we purchase our NH licenses at selected tackle
    shops. Call around, just think you could do it sitting down :-}
there must be a place fairly close to you, once you find a place
they will usually post date it for you for when you want it.

This past weekend I spent 3 days on Junior Lake and
Duck Lake in Maine,(5+ hr ride from Merrimack).
To say the least the small mouth fishing was incredible!!!
Early on the second day my buddy and I stopped counting
the smallies we caught for fear that it would highlight
 our poor math skills :-)
We caught these bass on ALL types of artificial baits including
but not limited to Rapalas, spinner baits, gold bombers, tiny
torpedoes....They were also hammering shiners and we even caught a
couple of frogs and caught them that way as well!
These were quality fish up to about 4 1/2 pounds,(none would need
to be sticked at a tourney). These fish were aggressive maniacs.
One fish took a topwater bait two feet from the boat,(glad we brought
 extra underwear)!!
To my surprise I actually caught two large carp on crank baits. Those
were my first,(and hopefully last), carp! We also caught one white
bass,(which I had never heard of).
I can't say enough about that area. Water is incredibly clean. You
could easily see bottom in 10' of water. There are a few lakes inter
connected but we only had time to fish these two.
We rented a lake a beautiful cabin from a Decie,(Steve Bendel
@ REGENT::BENDEL). These lakes hardly have any houses on them
and the solitude is incredible. I strongly recommend this cabin/area
to anyone who likes smallie fishing.
Also note that these lakes are also populated with Salmon, Lake Trout,
 perch & pickerel

You're correct. I guess my fat fingers and my not-so-nimble mind just
weren't working together today. Thanks for the correction!

| | Marc, there are places to wade and fish for nice size trout around the
Forks to jackman area. Hope this helps.

Does anyone have any info on the current cost of fishing licenses in
Maine. What is their age linit for junior licenses? I am going up to the Lake
Sebago area for a week in August and will need to get a license.
Also, are there any restrictions on boats registered out of state.
Thanks,
jp

| | Just got back from Maine last week. They are more expensive than NH.
I paid $21 for a 3-day non-resident license. They did, however, have a better
selection of licenses. I believe they mentioned a 1-day, 2-day, 3-day, 5-day
and 7-day. That's probably close but not 100% accurate.
I believe the non-resident season license was around $35. If we had
known we'd be going back up there again next month, we would have sprung for
season licenses and saved money! Oh well.
Can't help you on the boat stuff.

| | Non-Resident season license is $49 this year. They do have a selection
in between of 1 day, 3 day, 14 day. The three day last year was about
$18. I don't remember the cost of the 14 day, I believe is was in the
mid $30 something range but is upgradable to a season. Out of state boat
    registration is acceptable
