Tim,
Spag's switchboard number is: (508)799-2570, just ask for the
sportshop fishing dept.
They always give prices to me on the phone, so give them a call.

| Thanks, Steve. I called, they gave me prices. What I want to know is
why the number is unlisted?

The number isn't 'really' unlisted, but from what I remember the
number is under his real last name. Might as well be unlisted.
I guess it is part of the Spag's mystique.

| If you ask information for "Shrewsbury", "Spags, please", you get:
"Please make a note of the number. The number is unlisted at the
customer's request."
Anyway, for those who may be curious, I have the following price table:
Model BassPro OffshoreAngler Gander Mountain Spags
113H 69.99 69.99 72.99 72.99
25GLS 89.99 94.99 92.99 99.00
650SS 63.99 67.99 69.99 67.99

125.5 | Spag's not always the cheapest | FURTHR::HANNAN | Beyond description... | Thu Jan 30 1992 14:59 | 11 |
| Tim, have you checked the Fair in Worcester for prices ?
I picked up my Penn 113H for $54.99 (sale price) at the Fair
about 18 months ago. Spags had the same one for about $69.99
or so, regular price... I remember a huge price difference.
I forget what size it is though (duh!).
Does the 113H come in a smaller size than 4/0 ? Mine is the
smaller version, I'd say about 3.5 inches diameter, and I think
it's the 4/0.
Ken (who never was able to get Spag's tel# either)

125.6 | 112H is smaller (3/0) | VICKI::DODIER | Food for thought makes me hungry | Fri Jan 31 1992 16:52 | 8 |
| All Penn 113H's and 113's are 4/0. I have the Penn Jigmaster 500M
which holds 300yds of 30 lb. test vs. 575 on the 113H. It is big enough
for cod (barely) if you use the large crank.
Penn also makes a 3/0 reel which is the 112H. It holds 375 yds. of
30 lb. test. I'm not sure if it comes with the big crank or not.

Nope. It comes with a small crank. I bought one, foolishly thinking it was
the 4/0. Duh. Got it home and scratched my head (gee, it looked bigger at
the store.) Used it for cod for a short while, but it took way too many cranks
to get a fish out of 230 feet of water. Now I use it for trolling for blues,
with 20 lb test. Much better application for the reel.

| Just this weekend I decided to wait until after the show. I don't know
if I'll get there or not, but figure $5 to get in and $5 in gas, I may
as well just order the sucker from BPS...
I'll check out the show anyway.

| SPAGS & Ect... where is it?
I will be travelling to the Boston area next week and would like to
visit some of the Stores (like SPAGS) that you guys so fondly speak of.
Can somone give me directions or area where Spags is located? Are they
open on Sundays?
Any other HOT-SPOTS for fishing related STUFF.
Thanks

SPAG's is on Rt-9 in Shrewsbury near Worcester (40 miles west of Boston)
If your coming from Boston on the Mass Turnpike I-90 West take Exit 11A
and go up I-495 North to the first Exit Rt-9 West about 7 miles.
You will go past the Rt-20 intersection then Rt-140 intersection.
SPAG's in on your right. just follow all the traffic.
I believe it's open on Sunday 12:00pm to 5:00pm like most stores.
SPAG's fishing & tackle shop is a seperate building in the back lot area.
Also remember that SPAG's takes "CASH" only. No plastic accepted.
Also be prepared to be walking elbow to elbow with shoppers in narrow aisles
in the Main store. Quite a treat for first time goer's.
Enjoy

| Thats a fact Spags is not open on Sunday.
Also bring your own bags because they don't give any and won't even
take travellers checks.
I have to admit they really don't handle rods well. They had a
Browning IMX rod $108.00 thrown in a mess with uglysticks and westbend
rods. They sell things like the Shimano Coriolis for $59 which is the
same price as BPO in fact cheaper because no shipping.

| Also, the 'Sport Shop' is behind and to the left of the main
building.
Zylas on rte 3 in Merrimack N.H. is pretty good too. Also The Fair
on rte 20 in Auburn (just past Worcester).
