| I've used Buckos with good results. However, there are two separate
Buckos in fall river I understand - I guess a cousin started up a
similar buisness.

Yo! Brian...if you not in a BIG hurry to get the reels cleaned,
hold on to them and take them to the Centrum Fishing Exposition.
Bucko's is there...hand them the reel...wait two weeks...little
box arrives at you door...pay the invoice.
Bingo...
Any questions....you can call and speak to the technician who
worked on your reels.

80.6 | experience w/Quantum (zebco) | ODIXIE::RHARRIS | work to live, not live to work! | Tue Feb 09 1993 16:47 | 16 |
| I went through my reels the other day, and two of them had to be
repaired. One was a shimano cx2000. I found a reel repair specialist
for it. The other one was a Quantum QC3W (zebco). The guy at the
repair shop told me to mail it to zebco for free repair or replacement.
I am going to tonight. Does anyone have any experience with Zebco, and
their turnaround time etc?
Personally, I am not impressed at all by the quantum reel. It is less
than a year old, and the main gear inside sheared off and has to be
replaced. My shimano is in the shop for a new bail wire, as the old
one is warn and cracked. bought in 1987.
This weekend I bought the Shimano Stradic 2000, ultimate reel.

80.7 | miss those lifetime warrantees | RANGER::MACINTYRE | Terminal Angler | Tue Feb 09 1993 17:53 | 7 |
| I've had a bunch of Quantums with lifetime warrantees and have had good
luck with them, except for the fact that every few years one seems to
jump into the water, never to be seen again. A couple of times I've had
to have one repaired and the turnaround time has been 'reel' good.

80.8 | Who do you send your reels to? | WMOIS::PELLETIER_G | | Wed Feb 10 1993 06:26 | 14 |
| RE.7 (Ref:Real good turn around time)
I'll guess that it wasn't Metropolitan Rod & Reel which is
advertised out of the Bass Pro Shop catolog.
I sent a reel out for repair, last June and received it back in
the September/October timeframe. I beleive that there main business
is repairing lawn mowers or something and that fixing reels is
something extra to fill in the gap when there is spare time.
For me that was basically the greater part of the fishing season
because the bow season starts then.

| Well, thanks for the info. I will post how long it takes zebco. when
I called up, they just gave me the address where to mail it. No
questions asked. I didn't know they have a life time warranty.

80.10 | ditto .8 | RANGER::MACINTYRE | Terminal Angler | Wed Feb 10 1993 09:29 | 8 |
| Ditto on Metropolitan rod and reel, I used them once. Same as .8,
sent them the reel in early spring, got it back late fall... And the
parts cost WAY too much...
I always try the manufacturer first, they'll often fix it out of
warranty if it's a higher end rod/reel.
