77.0. "Orlando, Florida: Guides" by DELNI::OTA () Wed Oct 16 1991 18:10

My brother is heading down to Orlando Florida and needs the name of a
good guide down there. Anyone have a name, address, phone, and fees?

    Thanks

Yeah. Roland Martin. If he doesn't mind shiner fishing, tell him to
call Doug Hannon and use my name. He's a very close personal friend. We
used to party together all the time. I introduced him to his wife.

Check out the original notesfile, there were some references in there.

The back of any BASSmasters has a bunch listed. My only Fla Guide
experience has been out of Roland's Marina on Okeechobee - top notch
guides - but kind of a long drive from the Magic Kingdom.

Shiner fishing is what most guides do down there almost exclusively -
and many of the locals as well. On the weekends, at many of the more
popular spots down there, it's tough for a bass to swim around without
    bumping into a hooked shiner.

If you want to stay neay Orlando and save $150 or so, head over to
East Lake Fish Camp on East Lake Toho (Right in Kissimee). They rent
    small boats there cheap.

If your fishing shiners you can get by without a bass boat with
electronics. The lakes not that big, and some real monsters
get pulled out of there. The first time I was there (in a small rented
boat I lost a HUGE bass). Another time I saw a 13+lber get boated
50yds from where I was fishing. Last time there there wasn't any
water! But that should be all set now...
