29.0. "Lake Sunapee N.H." by ELMAGO::MWOOD () Fri Aug 02 1991 17:55

    This note is to provide general information on fishing
    Lake Sunapee.

    Well, I just spent a weeks vacation at Sunapee, and had a great
    time. My daughter and I caught smallies non stop...She dosn't
    like trolling, so I passed on the salmon and lake trout fishing.
    It didn't seem to matter what you used, or what time of the day
    it was...:-) We didn't get any large fish though. I was glad to
    see in the intro note that Bob hooked into a good one! How was
    your stay by the way ? Someone should have a non catch and release
    tournament up there to thin out the population! Maybe it would
    help to produce more large fish in the future...I'm curious to
    hear where you caught the 5 pounder Bob...Did you get any other
    good fish ?

29.1A great week of fishing!AKOCOA::SANSINGIn search of the monster HAUG!Mon Aug 05 1991 10:5414
    Marty,
    Besides the 5 lb. Bass, I caught a couple of 3+ lbs. Bass as well. I
    was using Helgramites in the rocks at about 20 feet near Black marker
    sticks. Trolling didn't produce any salmon but still fishing with worms
     at a depth of 25-30 ft. in 70 ft. of water produced a few 2+ lbs.
    Salmon per day.
    BTW, all fish were released to be caught another day!

    I rented a cabin at George's Mills at the marina for $60 a day, not bad
    for in season.

    I heard there's a petition circulating around the lake to get
    Marty Wood back up there! Apparantly fishings just not the same
    since he's left. 8'(
29.3 BASS INFOASABET::D_DAVOLLTue Jun 16 1992 09:339

       I will be spending some time on the Lake in August. I would
    appreciate any info on the Lake. I will be fishing strickly for
    Bass and with artificial lures. Maybe this will help eliminate
    searching for those critters. Thanks in advance. Also reply by
    mail ASABET::D_DAVOLL.

29.4Fishers Bay...ELMAGO::MWOODMon Jul 13 1992 16:4412
    I was there a couple of weeks ago and we caught bass non stop.
    Best method was trolling a rebel crayfish imitation, brown and
    orange in coloration. Try the mouth of fishers bay, making passes
    between the marker bouys on each side. I didn't get much time on
    the water due to other circumstances, but the few hours I spent
    out with my daughter was non stop action. Most of the time I couldn't
    get 2 lines in before the first would have a fish on! The day was
    sunny, 11:00 in the morning, and we were trolling with leadcore
    line, 2 colors out over 15 to 25ft of water...trolling speed was
    around 2.5 mph...Hope this helps some.

29.6Newbury MarinaELMAGO::MWOODTue Jul 21 1992 16:0110
    Dick,
    The marina at the Newbury end of the lake use to sell a map that
    included depths. There's some pretty rocky sections scattered
    around the lake, but all are marked off with buoys...The only
    problem comes in if you miss seeing a buoy, or mistake which
    side of it you should cross...go slow until your sure of the area
    your cruising! Give me a call if you want more info on the lake.
    I'll try and answer any questions you have.

29.7Is there a ramp there?MR4DEC::FBUTLERWed Sep 09 1992 13:597
    Is there a boat ramp at the "Newbury" marina? Can you post directions?

    We've been fishing salt almost all season, and would like to spend
    some time trying for some bass...

29.8George's MillsELMAGO::MWOODTue Sep 22 1992 16:4510
    Jim,
    I haven't been in here for awhile. If your still interested in
    directions I can help. To the best of my knowledge, there isn't
    a public launch in Newbury. The public ramp is at Georges Mills.
    Take I89 north from Concord and get off at the Georges Mills
    exit (12 or 13). Take a left at the bottom of the exit ramp. The
    entrance to the public ramp is a couple of miles ahead on the left.

    Good luck,
    Marty
29.9Looking for a cabin up there...MR4DEC::FBUTLERWed Sep 23 1992 09:426
    thanks for the info. i tried calling up there to see about a cabin at
    georges mills, but the only phone number that information had was for
    the Georges Mills boat club, and no one answered. Do you remember the
    names of any places up there that have cabins on the lake?

29.10SargentsELMAGO::MWOODWed Sep 23 1992 15:456
    Jim,
    Try calling Sargent's Marina. I don't have the number, but they
    should be in directory assistance. I think they rent them, but if
    not they should be able to point you in the right direction.
