14.1 | | PACKER::BASSCO::BACZKO | Now, for some fishin' | Thu Aug 01 1991 09:28 | 28 |

Well I give up my favorite spot. Ceader Meadow Lake in Leicester Ma.
The fishing there is great only about 5 active fisherman use these
waters and only one take the bass out. Last week I went out with a
buddy and we nailed 10 in about 1.5 hours most of them were in the
12-13 inch range acouple of 2 - 3 Lbers. Then last Tuesday the Gitzit'
and I go out from 7 - 9:15 and nailed over 30, UNBELIEVABLE Night!!!
At one point while I was trying to get the boat in control from the
wind the Gitzit nailed 7 on about 10 cast, The biggest that night
weighed 2.5 lbs. Two days ago I got the biggest from this lake for me
A 5 Lb 3 Oz according to my Normak, but heres the deal, the fish was 24"
and had the a monster girth, this fish has been feeding. I checked My
normak last night and it was about 8 ozs off with a weight. so maybe
this fish was bigger I thought it was about 7 lbs when I landed it.
Last night I took My daughter out in the boat and I set the hook on 9
bass in an hour and let her reel them in she had a blast with that,
shes only 6 and doesnt have the nack on hook setting.
The water has been dropped on this lake and this year due to damn
problems and the weeds have really gone crazy. I think thats the
reason this lake has really turned on this year, It has always been a
good fishing lake but not like this year.
Oh I forgot to mention this is a private lake about 300 Acres no public
access, I am a member of the lake association so I got the key to the
ramp.

14.3 | Eagles at Barrtons Cove | PACKER::PACKER::BACZKO | Now, for some fishin' | Tue Aug 20 1991 13:50 | 8 |
| Just a note (Mod. move were you see fit)
At Barton Cove on the Ct. River there are two island straight off
the ramp. These islands are now surrounded by red bouys. Do not cross
these, on the islands ther are a pair of nesting bald eagles. There is
a fine for going past them. I noticed them last week but did not know
what they were for, this weekend at a tourny the put that area off
limits and explained why.

| I'll be travelling to the Lowell/Bedford area on Sept. 2nd, and will be
staying for 5 weeks. I live in Cal., and fish primarily for large and
smallmouth bass. So, I have a few questions.
First, where are some good areas to go? I don't mind driving, as I'll
have plenty of time (on the weekends). I'd like to go somewhere where
the fishing is decent, and also rents boats.
Second, how is the bass fishing that time of year?
Third, how much is a resident liscence, and how do I obtain one?
And last, any offers to act as a guide will cheerfully be accepted, and
will be reciprocated should you ever visit NorCal. 8^)

| Anybody been after largemouth bass yet?
I,m wondering if there hitting already.
A friend and I caught two almost by mistake down in Clinton
a couple weeks ago. We were out for Rainbow Trout using
multi colored spoons, and managed to catch our limit.
But while casting under a small boat house we both nailed a
large mouth within 5 minutes of each other.
After that we didn't get anymore Bass hits but cleaned up
on the Trout.
So I was wondering if and with what bait you other Mass Bassers
are catching the Large Mouths on???
Good luck.
Big Bass, Here we come!!!

14.7 | A1 anyone been there lately? | DELNI::OTA | | Wed Apr 22 1992 15:28 | 3 |
| Has anyone fished the A1 in Westboro this year or last, How is it?
Brian
|
14.8 | directions? | DELNI::OTA | | Fri Apr 24 1992 09:26 | 11 |
| Can anyone give me directions to the A1. I went into the old file and
found directions, but when I looked on a map of Westborough they didn't
make sense. I tried to find the place yesterday. I went down rt 9
from Rt495. At the lights right after the ford dealer I took a left
onto to Otis Road. I came upon a pond on the right that was visable
from Otis and took a right to the Bose factory which sits on the end of
the pond. Is this the A1? If it is, thats bad, the place is off
limits due to pollution, has signs all over the place warning not to
go near the water.
Brian

14.9 | Yeah, you don't want to go near that place! | GNPIKE::NICOLAZZO | Over 5,000,000,000 served. | Fri Apr 24 1992 10:00 | 9 |
| You found Hocomoca (or something like that) pond. Yes, VERY bad place.
For A1 - Keep on Otis road until it ends. Take a left, then a right
(I think its the first right) and A1 will be on your right.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

14.10 | Street names to SUASCO A1. | HYEND::WBARTON | | Fri Apr 24 1992 13:17 | 15 |
|
The left is "Fisher Street" and the right is "Mill Road".
Therefore it is:
At Duddie Ford take left onto Otis. Go all the way no turns. At the end
of Otis turn left onto Fisher Street. 600 yards down the road take
first right onto "Mill Road".
The locals call it "SUASCO" or "Mill Road Pond".
Stay out of Hocomoca!! Trust me. It is being drained and a lagoon being
made to safely dispose of Creosote.

14.11 | CHAUNCY POND??? | PIPPER::STURNER | | Sat Apr 25 1992 05:37 | 12 |
| Speaking of Westboro, has anyone ever tried Chauncy pond off of
Lyman street. I drive by it often but never stopped to check it
out.
It looks like a hot spot. It seems clean and fish supporting.
Is it legal? Can you put a boat in there?
I've been meaning to call the Division of Wildlife in Westboro
to see if they might know. This pond isn't far from the Wildlife
Management area in Westboro. In fact, it might border it.
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Thanks,
Scott

14.12 | I don't waste alot of time at either pond. | GNPIKE::NICOLAZZO | Over 5,000,000,000 served. | Mon Apr 27 1992 08:35 | 12 |
| Big Chauncy or Little Chauncy?
If you mean Big Chauncy - I've never seriously tried fishing it. There
are bass in there but you'll have to put up with tons of boat traffic
including people racing around in circles at full speed - some towing
skiers, others for no apparent reason.
If you mean Little Chauncy - I've fished it with VERY limited success.
I've never caught a legal sized bass in there, but the place looks soo
fishy, I keep going back for one more try.

14.13 | Chauncy's OK | HYEND::WBARTON | | Tue Apr 28 1992 13:19 | 20 |

Big Chauncy has bass, Walleyes, The steril Tiger Muskies and a reported
nothern or two.
The neat thing about it is the Dept of Fish and Game is right there and
consider it there little laboratory. They put in some fish and then see
how they do.
In 1957 they poisoned everything. There were fish 2 feet
thick on the Lyman Street shore.
They put in some bass and sat back and watched. The small mouths died
off but the large mouths did pretty good. Walleyes are few. Water
depths are about 18-22 feet in the neighborhood of Foggy's resturant.
I caught my only 6#er of last year in Chauncy. Got to get in early and
be out of there by 9:30 - 10:00ish in the summer. A boat launch exits
at "Warren's Cove" right around the corner from the town beach on Lyman
street. Flyfishing at dusk (with poppers) is fun. The sunfish and an
occasional bass will keep you busy.
