| Due to Hurricane Bob, the LKG plant will be shutting down shortly. Accordingly,
all computers will be shutting down as well. The conference will be unavailable
until tomorrow morning at the earliest, and will shut down without warning,
probably in the next 15-30 minutes.

| My apologies for the sudden downtime this morning.
FISHING-V2 and FISHING had resided on WAHOO's system disk. The system disk
went south this morning, logging several hundred errors in a short time.
The system was shut down unexpectedly in order to preserve the file.
The files have been moved onto WAHOO's user disk. Field circus will come by
eventually to fix the problem, so FISHING-V2 may go down again unexpectedly.
In addition, this weekend there is a planned power outage at the LKG facility
where WAHOO lives. It will occur sometime tonight (after WAHOO's backup
is completed) and will likely last until monday morning sometime. I will be
at a woods meeting on monday, but will try to get the system mangler to
get the system up as soon as he gets in to minimize the interruption of
service.

| The power hit that Littleton experienced last thursday hit WAHOO harder than
any other system. Both disks were destroyed. They have been replaced and the
backups have been used to restore the system as best we could. Neverthless,
some data was lost including some replies since the full backup was scheduled
to be run on Thursday night and since data had been entered since the incremental
backup was run Wednesday night.
Sorry for the prolonged absence and loss of data.

| A badly fragmented page file necessitates the imminent shutdown of wahoo

| WAHOO will be powered down later this afternoon as LKG will be
experiencing a complete shutdown for air conditioning work. I expect to
be back up on sunday afternoon, or monday morning at the latest.

| The conference may be moving in the near future dependent upon whether
or not WAHOO is replaced as my workstation. I am scheduled to move next
thursday/friday Apr 1st or 2nd. If I am around I will ensure that access
is interrupted for the minimal possible time, however, with my wife due
to give birth at any moment it is not a given that I will be around. I
don't know whether some joker will come around and simply unplug WAHOO
if I am out at the critical moment.
I will do my best to ensure that FISHING-V2 remains open for your use.

| FISHING-V2 is looking for a new home. WAHOO is going to be replaced
in the next few weeks with an Alpha AXP machine running OSF/1. I will
be looking for space on a local cluster for FISHING-V2, but if anyone
else has a place for the file please contact me. I'm trying to start this
process far enough ahead of time so that we don't lose access (at least
not for very long.)

| FISHING-V2 will be moving!
In the next couple of days, WAHOO will be removed from the net.
The new home will be SCHOOL::FISHING-V2.
Prior to the move I will write-lock the conference. Please let your
friends know about this since I didn't get an opportunity to post this
very well in advance.
