| If you would like to enjoy the fishing notesfile with us, PLEASE
take a couple of minutes and look at these tips and guidelines
that we hope you will use to help make the Fishing notesfile work
the best for all of us.
1. Reading Notes - Using the Next Unseen feature:
The easiest way to keep up with all of the new notes that are
entered in the file is with the NEXT UNSEEN feature.
If you are new to the file, or you have been around awhile but
have not been using this feature, unless you want to go back and
read ALL the notes, you should set the existing notes 'seen'.
To set all the notes seen, except the ones that have been entered
since yesterday, type:
Notes> SET SEEN/BEF=YEST
Now when you hit the 'Enter key' on your keypad you will see the
next reply in the topic you are currently in - or - if there are
no more replies, you will see the next unseen note in some other
topic. If there are more replies that you don't care to read on
the topic you are currently in, hit the 'Comma' key above the
'Enter' key on your keypad and you will be taken to the next
unseen note.
2. Keywords:
The 1st reply in topic 5 ("directory assistance") contains a
list of all the keywords that are used in this notesfile. The
number next to each keyword is the number of the reply within
that topic that contains the list of notes associated with that
particular keyword.
For example:
2 ALASKA
means that note 555.2 contains a list of all the
notes in Alaska.
So, if you were interested in writing something about Alaska,
you would first look at the list of keywords, find the keyword
ALASKA, and then look at note 555.2 to see where the notes on
Alaska are located.
Please do this before starting a new topic. Naturally, you may
still enter new topics when you think you should, but we should
try and make use of the existing topics whenever possible.
3. Rules:
a. NO offensive four letter words, not even in the form of f_rm
b. Busting is to remain within P&P guidelines and is only to be
found in the generic bustin' topic (21) and the periodic tournament
specific bustin' topics. Violations of this rule will be deleted.
c. Any items for sale, trade or wanted go in the note 20.*
d. Please don't use ALL CAPS!
e. HAVE FUN! <== most important rule

| Note 2.* "Moderator Actions Summary" has been created for the purpose of
logging moderator interventions which affect specific notes in the file.
The note is read-only to the readership, as the note is specifically designed
to inform the readership of moderator activities which affect notes that have
been written.
In note 2.*, you will find the following sorts of messages (not intended to
be an exhaustive list):
A) "Note n.mmm was deleted due to the policy on obscenities."
"Note n.mmm was deleted due to the policy on insults."
"Note n.mmm was set hidden pending moderator consultation."
B) "Note n.mmm was moved to the tourney bustin' note."
"Note n.0 was moved to an already existing discussion in note p.*"
In addition to posting the actions in note 2.*, all messages that indicate
note deletion or hidden notes will be augmented by mail to the note authors
reiterating the moderator action. This means that if you do not get a mail
message sent to you, then most probably your note did note get deleted! (Do
not, however, take this to mean that our inability to contact you by mail
will preclude us from deleting notes or setting them hidden.)
Moderator actions of the type in category B, which consists of moving notes,
will not ordinarily result in an accompanying mail message unless the noter
is new/unknown/a novice. Such mail messages will be regarded as a courtesy
to the non-regulars (hopefully soon-to-be-regulars) in order to keep the
newcomers informed and unintimidated. They will be directed to monitor 2.*
in the future in said mail messages.
Note 3.* will be used in the future for conference announcements.
