1937.0. "us1rmc::"someone@somewhere" vs just someone@somewhere" by 4446::OSMAN (Eric Osman, dtn 226-7122) Mon Apr 28 1997 13:34

    After sending msgs of the form

    	us1rmc::"someone@somewhere"

    is there a command available to ask us1rmc whether the msg is
    stuck in their queue ?

    	(if there's a better notesfile in which to ask this, please let
    	me know)

    We have alot of msgs stuck in our queue if we send using the form

    	someone@somewhere

    and I am trying to determine whether sending through us1rmc is a
    useful workaround.

    Thanks.

    /Eric

"stuck in our queue"

What queue?  UCX's mail queue?

    	And NMAIL will also queue messages if there's a problem.

Not that this has anything to do with VMSmail but I used to see this with
an older (maybe 3.3?) version of UCX where after a reboot I had to
do a UCX STOP MAIL and a UCX START MAIL.

Is the problem only with non-Digital domains (ie anything outside .dec.com)?

   US%RMC:: is a definite workaround -- this syntax uses the DECnet
   transport to get to the SMTP (IP) gateway.

   I had stuck messages until I upgraded to the latest UCX ECO, and
   also fixed up some oddities in the substitute domain, zone, and
   alternate gateway settings...

   Now the direct SMTP e-mail is working fine.

UCX> sho conf smtp
