1424.0. "Music wire sway bars for an 1/8 scale gas car" by LATNCY::MORGAN (Brad Morgan) Fri May 08 1992 18:57

I'm in need of a more varied collection of sway bars for an 1/8 scale gas car.

I'm using music wire and in the U.S. the popular sizes (in inches) are:

1/16	.062
5/64	.078
3/32	.093
1/8	.125

I'd like to find something between .078 and .093 and a couple between .093 and
.125.

Is music wire sold in Europe in metric sizes? If so, what are the increments?

This isn't the answer your looking for Brad but consider this.
Music wire isn't all that strong - you can mount the .093 in a drill
and hold some emory cloth in one hand and sand it down to a half
size smaller. It would be hard to get an exact diameter along the
whole length and you could never use it for something like passing
thru a precision hole with fluid pressure on one side (a shock strut)
but you can easily make wire smaller. When ever I have a Stabilator
pin that won't easily go thru a brass tube I just sand it till it does.
Mostly I sand them to ruff them up so they stick better to epoxy or
polyester resin.
