1359.0. "SCALE BOATS ?" by TRUCKS::MILLS () Wed Sep 18 1991 09:16
Hi,
I was just reading the RC conference and have seen several boaters in on
the act. The entries seem to be fast type power boats. The question is this -
anybody build scale electrics either from kits or scratch built.
Another point is how big is the model boats market in the US.? Here
in the UK we have a good couple of magazines, and although I've just started
there seems to be a club in most major towns.
Does any body from the U.K. read this conference.?
For me I'm just about to finish a sctrach built private cruiser based on
plans by Vic Smeed. Its only about 18in long with a 6in beam and needs
experimenting on as regards power plant and prop. At present she will enter the
water with a 6V motor and 2 bladed prop. Theres also a gearbox involved that
came with the motor that I borrowed from a redundent car kit.
I also have an Oil Rig supply vessel kit that I still need to finish
off for a friend.
Well hows that for a start, generally my interest is in private crusers
and fishing boats.
Peter.

| Peter, check out the notes file PICKET::SHIP_MODELS. You may find
more scale information there.
