1192.1 | WELL, HELLO STRANGER...... | PNO::CASEYA | THE DESERT RAT (I-RC-AV8) | Wed Mar 07 1990 09:35 | 20 |
| Re: .-1, Brian,
Good to hear from you again. Our UK participation seems to have
dwindled to near nothing of late...can't remember the last time we
heard from John Chadd down in Oz. Eric Cullen checks in from the
Emerald Isle occasionally but I'd really begun to wonder what'd
happened to you. Hope you'll be around for awhile.
I sent Eric some pix of the restored MiG-3, taken following it's second-
place finish in the Scale Masters Qualifier held here in January and, now
that he's opened the format to RE-builds, I've told him to include one
of the pix if he cares to. I think he's said he's received a couple of
pix but not very many so I'll join you in exhorting all our fellow
noters to fire a pic of their latest prides-'n-joys to Eric ASAP.

1192.2 | One more entry from Europe | LEDS::KLINGENBERG | | Wed Mar 07 1990 14:08 | 9 |
| Since you are asking for European entries: Eric, I assume you will be
at the March DECRCM meeting next week? I will be there and give you
pictures of my FIESTA. Was finished by the end of January, but not
flown yet (due to business trip to the US). If you're not there, I
still want to keep the pictures until then and will send them to you
afterwards.
Regards,
Hartmut

1192.3 | The eagle ( Electra ) has flown! | HAMPS::WARWICK_B | Stay young -- keep your wheels in motion | Wed Apr 11 1990 12:10 | 37 |
| Further to 1192.0 ...
the Electra has flown -- the 100 mph+ gales we have been having
have subsided in recent weeks and last Friday I wizzed down to our
offices at The Solent ( near Southhampton ) where as yet un-built-on
land owned by Digital provides an excellent flying site at the moment.
Trevor Hornby and Malcolm Winslade were both very helpful and between
them the Electra was trimmed ( just a coupla' clicks of rudder and
elevator ) and launched for an approx. 15 minute flight with yours
truly at the controls for a while between taking off and landing.
At 10 oz/sq ft it was a bit light for the lumps that were in the
wind that day but it flew straight. CG had been set by me at half
way between the limits an the plan but Trevor put a few grammes
( self-adhesive tire balancing weights ) up front just in case.
I was so impressed that I went out on Saturday and bought an Osprey
100 kit ( it looks as if the Legionnaire will have to wait! ).
For those who don't know it the Osprey 100 is 100" span for rudder,
elevator and airbrakes if reqd. -- it is eligible for the 100S class
which I think in the US of A is called Standard?
This plane should come out at 8 oz/sq ft but can be ballasted for
up to 15 mph winds so it should a good summer flat field plane and
still be good for some light sloping.
The bug has bitten -- this year I will master flying R/C!!!!!!
Regards
Brian
P.S. have you got any more photos Eric? this note seems awfully
quiet!
