| Welcome,
I have had an interest in trying some slope soaring.
At present I fly powered sport planes but have seen alot of slope
sailplanes (Bob Martin coyote for one) but I'm totaly green in
that field. What can you tell me/us about slope soaring for the
beginer?

| Hans,
Welcome to the RC notes conference. I would be very interested
in hearing about all aspects of RC soaring in Germany. Please
include information about what type of gliders are being flown
(ie construction, airfoils, etc.), flying sites, launching
methods, etc. If possible do not limit your discussion to F3B,
unless this truly is the only soaring activity being pursued.
Thanks in advance for the information.
Regards,
Jim
P.S. My father has a Multiplex Fiesta 90% complete, can you offer
any insight on what to expect from this ship?

Welcome, Hans! In this conference you will find that _anything_
related to RC is of interest to at least _someone_! It would be
great to have more activity from Germany in the conference.

| Hi Jim,
Take a glider with a wing span about 2,5 meters, with ailerons, you can
fly also without ailerons, but and this is very important: "Air brakes
and a strong fuselage".
Why air brakes? Because the wind or the termal lift's are sometimes
stronger than in the flats.
Why a strong fuselage? Because in the beginning of slope soaring, the
landings are not so smooth.
If there are more question please don't hesitate and ask.
So long

| Hi Hans!!
Oh what a deal. I'm a member of Pikes Peak Soaring Society and we as a
group are very interested in F3b. As a matter of fact if your going to
the f3b Worlds in 92 you'll most likely get to meet a few of us. We are
allready trying to plan to be there. I think its in Switzerland.
A couple folks in our club are flying F3b now, some Kings, and some
scratch built stuff in that class. Ever here of Randy Renolds, He's
mentoring us for F3b and the new S3b class.
As a group we built about 10 Pantera's this year and did very well with
them. Several of us are now building flat foam wings w/ aelirons and
flaps. Hoping they will come in under 75 ounces and be legal in S3B.
You know what would be great would be if you have any info on new
construction techniques or hot new airfoils. Stay in touch and welcome
aboard!!

^^^
I didn't know that there is a "new" S3B class in FAI competition,
did they trash the old one? It was also known as B Parachute
Duration.

| Hello Hans :
Welcome! All the responses seem to indicate there is a significant
interest in Soaring in Germany, includeing me. My name is Ron Watts,
and I too am in the Pikes Peak Soaring Society (PPSS). Bob Page and I fly
together. As he stated we are very interested in F3B. Any information
you have would be most appreciated.
I am also the Editor of the PPSS newsletter the "Spoiler". Send me you
address and mail you a copy. If you club has a newsletter maybe we could
exchange them. I'm sure I can get help with translation from German to
English.
Presently several of us are experimenting with composite construction,
includeing Fiberglass, carbon fiber and vacuum bag techniques. We have
some Comet style fuselages on order and will built composite wings for
them. Hopefully we will get good at F3B and come for a visit someday.

Hello Ron,
Thank you for the nice wellcome and thanks for the offer of your
newsletter the "Spoiler".
My address is: Hans Karnitschnik
Riesenfeldstr.45
8000 Mnchen 40
Germany
I'm sorry but our club hasn't a newsletter wich I could send you.
Maybe we can met us in Switzerland WC92 or better:
Come and fly at the world greatest F3B competition, here in Munich.
It's every year in September. If you are interested in I can give you
more information. This year was an American here. I belive -?- Dawson was
his name.
Bob Page asked me about new construction techniques and hot airfoils.
Tell him: It's all the same like the last years.
Airfoils are Quabeck HQ 1,5/8 - 2/9 or Giersberger RG 14 and 15.
With this wonderfull new (small) winches there aren't new gliders
necessary. We get still 250 - 300 meters high.
Best wishes
Hans
