1015.0. "Optima Mid/Pulsar Pro" by DISCVR::SANKAR () Thu Jun 01 1989 01:01

    		Does anybody have any comments regarding Kyosho's
    	Optima Mid 4wd cars? After seeing one run in a local hobby
    	store I am convinced of the car's capability to perform, but
    	how bad is the assembly? Also, I've heard that Kyosho's
    	instructions are notoriously badly written -- is there any
    	truth to the rumor? In addition, Tower Hobbies sells this car
    	in a combo with their "Pulsar Pro" radio. I've only worked
    	with Futaba before and I wonder if these radios are any good.
    	If anybody has any other 4wd cars that they think are as good
    	or better, feel free to respond. Thanks.

   lthough I only run 2WD, Several friends are running Optima Mids VERY
    successfully. Kyosho instructions are not bad, although I'd recommend
    finding (if possible) someone who owns one for "tips". Another
    car to consider is probably the Schumacher CAT XLS, which offers
    better handling/performance but is more difficult to maintain and
    assemble.

    Regarding the Pulsar...look carefully at the package, and see if
    it really makes economic sense to buy the package with the Pulsar.
    Tower is definately competitive on Futaba's also, check out the
    new Magnum Jr. with either 2 (132 or 148) servos or 1 servo and
    the MC112 ESC (this ESC only for stock use!))

    If you go Optima Mid, check the cost on the new version...are you
    ready...Turbo Optima Mid Custom Special Edition!. Features new
    longer graphite chassis.

    Regards,

    Steve...sticking with my RC10 and Raider

1015.3I Love My Used Optima Mid!DNEAST::BADERSHALL_RSat Mar 04 1995 06:2410
    Just bought a used one from the notes....VERY HAPPY! This thing
    RIPPS!..can't wait to experiment with the diff. gear ratios.
    I bought it already assembled but looking at the directions
    i can tell you it looks easier to build than my CLODBUSTER!
    PHEW....that truck gave me gray hair building it..anyway..Im
    happy with my Optima Mid.....anyone else have some comments on the
    Optima..please please ..lets hear them!
