1005.0. "GREEN MOUNTAIN FLYERS" by BRNIN::SOUTIERE () Wed May 17 1989 09:58

    It seems that there is an increase in the number of flyers at DEC
    in Vermont.

    This note will be used for howdy-do's and some Vermont Ramblin'.

    Robert, welcome to the RC notesfile. Please LOG IN under Who's Who
    so we have a record of participants.

    In response to your question of flying fields.....I fly where I
    find the room. Sounds like Bernie a good spot in Jericho. We'll
    have to check it out....right Bernie? I also found a place in
    Panton (just outside of Vergennes) but it is on a long stretch of
    road (very little traffic). I was flying at the old Colchester
    airport, but they just put two ball fields and a play ground in.

    What we need to do is get together someday real soon and DO IT!

    By the way Robert, have you ever flown RC before?

    Ken, the last time I flew was about ten years ago. I started with a
    Lanier trainer and moved up to a PT 49 that I got pretty good at.
    could do some simple things like barrel rolls, figure 8s, and loops,
    but never quite mastered knife edges (lost 2 planes trying)! Gave up
    after starting college, but am now ready to go again.

1005.3Once a pilot, always a pilot.BRNIN::SOUTIEREThu May 18 1989 10:0011

    	No problem Robert! Its just like riding a bike. I'm sure it'll
    	all come back to you.

    	As far as knife edges, I still haven't mastered them yet. How
    	bout' you Bernie....

    	Anyways, get your equipment ready to go, and maybe we can get
    	some flyin' in.

Hi - I don't fly in Vermont any more, but while at Norwich, I was a member of
the Vermont Modeling Club in Barre. They had a very nice feild just up the
road from the Knapp airport in Barre. It was a real luxury to have so many
good flying areas! I get up there a couple of times a year to fly with some
friends in the area!

William Barlett used to fly at the Jerico site.

1005.5And yet another club...BRNIN::SOUTIEREThu May 18 1989 14:149
    Hi Brian,
    	Barre is about 40 minutes from Burlington, as is Vergennes,
    Cambrige, and So. Hero which all have plenty of room to fly. I
    don't recall hearing about that club. But then again I was just
    told by Robert White that there is a club in Milton which is only
    20 minutes away! I've only heard of the Green Mountain RCer's.
    Thanks for the info.

      Sounds like we're all going to have to apply for our AMA membership.
    Someone find out where that flying site is in Milton.
      As for the Green Mtn. R/C'rs Club, I can tell you its made up of
    mostly IBM'rs. The last time I flew with or visited with any of them
    it appeared they have an attitude problem. (chip on the shoulder type
    of thing.) Sooo, where do you work? (meaning where in the IBM plant)
    Digital-----(WROOOONG ANSWER!!!) My $.02.

       Barre, to far away. Unless its for a contest. So. Hero, I'm usually
    out there every other week or so. My mother lives there.

       I know you can't fly at Yandow's unless you belong to AMA.

       I should have my Eagle converted and ready in another week or two.

    Hi guys,

    the name of the club in Milton is the Arrowhead Aero Modelers of
    Franklin County and their flying field is located on Murray Ave. in
    Milton. Stop by my desk at pole P7 for info on the club and a map
    showing where the field is located.

    Sounds like we ought to start our own club! There's no place for
    CHIPS in RC clubs......specially BALSA CHIPS.....hee hee.
