Jim - there is a heated debate going on in some other note about the goodness
of FM, AM, and FM/PCM.
All ACE radios are still AM - so that makes the other notes worth reading.
I have seen several other modelers with ACE and they love their radios.
ACE has had single sticks available all along.
Single sticks in general seem like a nice idea but have a couple of
disadvantages. (1) It is harder to find an instructor or expert to test
fly your planes if you have a single stick. (2) It is harder to "pass
the sticks" back and forth (with a flying buddy or between instructor
and student".
If we were a one transmitter several receiver society then I would vote
for a single stick. As it is no vendor gives us a break on flight packs
so you will end up with dual stick transmitters wither you want them or
not. For instance my new Futaba Attack with batteries, power harness,
charger and three servos was cheaper than just a Futaba receiver, battery and
power harness with no servos, transmitter or charger.
Marketers!
I have a lazy left thumb and the single stick helps me use rudder.
I'm about 50/50 in ability with single and dual sticks. That is equally
bad with each. With about 3 years in the hobby - I think it is a toss up
between which I prefer. Several champions use each type.

| I have been using ACE stuff for years. It is basic high quality
and parts, service etc are easily available. I bought the Olymmpic
V las t year and it has proved to be one of my favorite radios.
I am not sure but my guess is that the single stick you referred
to is the single stick version of the OLY V. Also, I am using their
Giant Servos in my quarter scale CUB - it has not flown yet but
these servos also look and seem to behave quite well. Finally, ACE
radios are the only one's left that are made in the USA.

| Re: .2,
Well, almost but not quite. Cannon is still in business making
their mini/micro full-house systems and there're 1-or-2 firms on
the west coast still producing radios; R.S. Systems is one of them,
I think. So, while it's no great commentary on the state of things,
there are still 3-or-4 American R/C manufacturers.

| Lest we not forget Millcot...they're in the game too!
Yeah Bob, us ACE faithful are still waiting for the Second Coming
of the 1991 receiver. This time in FM. From what I've read,
it'll be impossible to survive in the 1991 environment with AM.
While not stated anywhere, I think it'll be because the
modulation peaks of the pager stations will be splattering (they
can legally do this) into our channel space. This will be murder
for AM.
If and when the much rumored FM radio hits the streets, I'll be
the one of the first buyers. Its been very nice to fix my silver
seven when needed.
